I’d be staggered if he went in the summer, mate.
Taking his stated desire to remain at the club at face value, and I’d factor in a possible small degree of reconciliation in his own mind to a marginally diminishing role in the team as he continues to age, then there’s no doubt in my mind that Pep would want to keep him.
Apart from his contribution on the pitch, he’s both popular and influential in the dressing room and around the club more generally, as well as being woven into the folklore of the club. For all those reasons, taken individually and collectively, selling him simply wouldn’t make sense.
Some people talk of a loss of acceleration (which is undeniably true) and waning finishing ability (which is absurd) but they conspicuously fail to factor in his improved all round game and, crucially, his hugely improved injury record, which is anecdotally significantly down to lifestyle changes around his diet. Those (erroneously) pinpointing a less effective player manifestly fail to appreciate that for much of the seasons from 12/13 to 15/16, we lost him at his lethal best due to various injuries and the time he took to recover from them and regain full potency, which always took half a dozen or so games.
I’m not sure he’ll stay until 2020, because who knows how far he’ll have declined by the time he’s 31, but I’m pretty certain he’ll still be here for next season. After that, anything is a huge bonus.
Whenever he goes, I’ll be sad and grateful in equal measure. Like nearly all blues I simply adore the guy and I think I’ll struggle to find a player in the future who’ll occupy the same place in my affections.
He’s an absolute fucking legend.
He’s alright, I suppose.yes, yes, yes...but do you like him or not?
When will he score the 200th goal ?........Hopefully on Thursday
As Kevin Keegan would say :Love it , really Love it,na, Jesus hat-trick on Thursday and then Kun gets his 200th on Sunday by megging Luiz on his way to 4 to get justice for last season.
Whenever they read the teamsheet out, his is the one and only name that causes the crowd to increase in volume when clapping and cheering the names. I had the great pleasure of meeting the 1st team a couple of seasons ago, and nothing came close to the sheer joy I got from meeting this fella. It was instant beatification. I genuflected to the guy and he couldn’t stop laughing. And it had fuck all to do with me being a Catholic.I’d be staggered if he went in the summer, mate.
