It is but he still had two chances put on an absolute plate for him by De Bruyne.

neither were easy chances...they were hardly on a plate especially the second (that would have been some goal!!!)

he also set up the best chance for GJ who was just offside...

People were criticising him for his work rate and link up play early season....he has been nothing short of fantastic int he way he has developed that and he is willing to keep learning i you believe his recent interview.....he was also very very complementary about GJ and not in the normal throw away remarks that most footballers say about each other..

get them two working together and it could be electrifying and we saw a glimpse of it tonight...as at present with only sergio on the pith he is the only real consistent goal threat as the others esp sterling and sometimes sane are just not stepping upto the plate.....aguero and GJ not he same pitch the defenders wont know who to mark

Come on, the first chance was an absolute sitter. He was inside the 6 yard box. The second chance was more difficult but he could have cushioned the ball back for Dinho for a tap in.

He has improved in other areas and as a team we are pressing much better with Sergio being a big part of that. However, you live and die by converting chances and yet again in a big game this season, we have been far wasteful and unfortunately for all his qualities, Sergio has been culpable yet again.

Shame he didnt get his goal and he'll probably be fuming tonight but I thought he was very good tonight - our most consistent threat.

Would love to see him and Jesus play together. He looked isolated at times as our midfield and wide men weren't supporting him.

he was beyond the front post though so its still a very difficult finish....Pep also doesn't live and die by converting chances,...he has said it himself its not about his strikers converting chances......its about how the strikers play for the team

the second i think he was just trying to knock it back across the goal but on the full stretch with the ball coming in at such pace it would have been amazing to do anything with it

aguero and GJ on the same pitch together is the way forward at present if you go off form.....sane or sterling are the ones to be dropped (or even KDB if silva is fit.....)

Chance falls to Aguero, Aguero misses. Camera closes in on a bewildered Aguero, whose eyes look to the heavens before slowly, very slowly, and very sheepishly looking towards Guardiola. Camera now shows Guardiola's reaction to missed opportunity. Guardiola flits from anticipation to exasperation, spins on his heels, head in his hands, and shouts anything at anyone on the bench.

It's becoming one of the rituals of watching City. :-)

Can't fault his effort, which I've certainly criticised him for previously. But there were three occasions in the second half last night when he was on the ball, there was a good option on to his left but he chose the wrong one and either hung on the the ball or played it to someone in a less advantageous position. Another problem we have is that we're far too reliant on him. At Arsenal they have Walcott & Sanchez, who both have 10 or more league goals, Spurs have Son, Kane and Alli all in double figures and Chelsea have Costa & Hazard.

I've done the stats since he's been with us & his best seasons by far were under MP.

Thats pretty much how i saw his performance.Plenty of graft and a desire to win,but at the expense of team play.....he was far too selfish and individual again, and alot of play halted because of his decisions.

He needs to be much more confident in his forward passing. Seems scared to play people in behind because he doesn't want to lose the ball.

I still think there's a good chance he will go in the summer. So much of our play was breaking down when he got the ball as over and over again he ran down blind alleys when he had perfectly good options available to him. I just think that is the opposite of everything Pep wants from his players. I don't want to criticise him, he has been fantastic for us and I love the guy but working harder or not, I just don't think he is what Pep wants.
