Being asked a question playing deeper across the line. It ain't him.
Get him back to where he plays best, tearing centre backs a new one, not out on a flank.
He needs to be able to do both. When we're pressed, the CMs will need forward options and Aguero has to come into space to make room for forward passes. He can't just hang about the back line hoping his teammates find a way through. But when he gets on the ball he needs to move it quickly to someone else and get forward as quickly as possible. This is one of the things Lewandowski excelled at.
If you watch the beautiful goal we scored a week ago where we started out from the keeper you'll see Kelechi come amazingly deep to receive a pass and move it along then ends up sprinting most of the pitch to support the attack. It was a small thing but exactly what was needed. He presented options twice (in the build up and on the break) that allowed the entire attack to flourish.
I don't think Sergio is particularly bad at this or never does this (and I don't think Kelechi is better at this, either) but I do think it's an area we must focus on against these pressing teams. You need to have multiple passing options at all times and they need to be available immediately. We have too many players who hide from making themselves available.
