Last season Sergio's start wasn't good enough. He was dropped and if it wasn't for Jesus getting a freak injury would have seen his chances in the first team dramatically reduced. However he got his head down and scored a good few goals. The fitness of the player was his most impressive feature for me. Longest he's played without injury. BUT iirc he didn't score for 9 consecutive games TWICE last season. That is dreadful by his standards. Sergio should have broken the 31 goal barrier at least twice for me and this is his last real chance to go down as the very best by getting that record along with some City one's too. Two games in (along with a not-so-sharp pre-season) and dropped for Argentine in two important matches, he is at a crossroads.

Liverpool would be the greatest way to kick start that goal.

He is not at a crossroads for us,the argies maybe,clearly there has been some kind of falling out with the coach but thats nothing to do with us,he finished the season really well and gets what pep wants now so he'll be fine and our record holder,enjoy him whilst we can

We all want him to fit into the starting XI, it's just frustrating when he's not as clinical or when the team seem to look less fluid when he's on the pitch. All he can do is listen to manager, do his best and we cannot ask anymore. The good thing about football is he can make us all look silly by lifting a couple of cups and banging in goals.
 
Seen a stat today that says over the last 3 seasons he has missed more clear cut chances than he has scored. For context a clear cut chance is defined as a chance which has a high probability of ending in a goal.
 
He's not bringing in the 7 or so assists that he was bringing us during our title wins either.

Everything went to shit after switching to the 4-3-3...

He could have had at least 3 assists already this season had others finishing been better.

Read my post in the pep thread...we don't have finishers though so I highly doubt things change. He was bagging 7 assists with the likes of balo, dzeko, and beast around him. I guess it was a stupid post to make on my part but that point should hold true anyway.
