Sergio Aguero announces his retirement | A thread to pay tribute

Also worth remembering this...

I remember everyone talking about his potential.
I remember the hype around him coming.
I remember his first game when he scored a brace.
I remember the confidence that grew around the club that season; the final piece of the puzzle.
I remember the belief that we could actually be crowned Champions of England.
I remember watching him make that happen.
I remember watching him do it again and again and prove it wasn't a fluke.
I remember the joys, the ups, the downs, when he was frustrating to watch and when he was mercurial.

But what I remember most of all was the passion, dignity, respect and commitment he gave to the club and the pride he showed on the pitch to wear our shirt. He held the respect of his former Premier League 'legends', was quietly confident and a prime example of someone who let his football do the talking. A true Blue.

Thank you for everything Sergio, be sure to visit us again soon.

What a decade he was with us for.

The finest striker to play in the premier league, and an absolute privilege to watch.

In life, it's extremely rare you can literally pinpoint the single best moment of your existence.

However, because of that day in May 2012, that single moment on 93:20 when this little Argentine scored that goal to almost erase the shite we had to endure.............I can pinpoint the best moment of my life. that includes the birth of my kids and they know this.

I've supported City for the best part of fifty years and in that time, we've had heroes, icons, cult heroes and a whole heap of dross too!!

Sergio Kun Aguero is my (our) hero, he's also iconic, he is also a cult hero because the rest of the English football world, don't really recognise how good he was - and that's fine by me, because they don't need to know, we do.

I unashamedly love him (as do many others) and he will always be my favourite ever City player.

He was phenomenal, he was unique.......and he was ours

"Manchester City are still alive here......Balotelli........"

Hit the ground running and never stopped, a shame how it ended but what a career he has had, an all time great striker.

What a debut! If I remember correctly we were having a similar problem at the time that we are having now - creating loads of chances but needing a striker to finish more of them off. I think that illustrates the big hole he filled when he joined us and the big hole he left when he departed. Legend, the greatest city player I have ever seen and ever will. He made us believe we could win and be better than the rags.
