Sergio Aguero announces his retirement | A thread to pay tribute

Sergio has reached the right decision and it has come as a great relief that he is not going to put himself at risk by trying to return. He is, to all of us, the greatest striker ever and he will always be welcome when he chooses to come back to Manchester. There is one memory that will never fade, of course, but then other memories of more skilful goals come crowding in and we know that for any football lover it was a privilege to see him play, but to be a City fan it was very heavy, as the chants of "Sergio" at our games show.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak: “Sergio [Aguero] is quite simply the most ruthless striker in the history of the #PL. It is extraordinary that his statistics, more reflective of two careers, are in fact those of a player whose time in the game was cut short..."

Khaldoon Al Mubarak: “His impact lives not only in the club that we are today, but in the club that we will be for many years to come. He has earned the adoration of the #ManCity family, and the respect of the football family the World over.” [via

“Sometimes the law of the barrio still applies – that same spirit, the same idea of fairness.

“I saw that they had got hold of one of our fans, four against one, and were practically smothering him. It was outright abuse. The guy couldn’t breathe.

“Then this cop starts giving me a hard time, so I tell him to f*** off. Nothing more serious than that"

Thank you for everything Sire but especially for 'that' goal.
Nothing City related has come close or ever will, to the sheer joy at that moment.
Enjoy your retirement Sergio
