The only person who might be against this is Aguero himself, so unless he is, I don't see why this would be a hold up. I think we'd gladly insert this clause in order to stop one of the few teams who could possibly pry him away from bidding.
Spot on, that was my first impression as well. City would love to put this in his contract, the only hold up would be Aguero, meaning he has plans to one day move to Real.
Speculation of course but fascinating.
I think City would love to have a clause where he can't join them for the first 2 years, but not sure about a clause where he can NEVER join them. Due to FFP, clubs have to buy players when they are young, develop them, and then sell them on for a profit. 4/5 years down the line, Real Madrid are one of the few clubs that can enable us to make a profit on Aguero. So i don't think City would like to rule them out completely. I don't think Aguero would want to rule out playing for them further down the line either.
So if this is the genuine reason for the delay (it's come from fbloke, so i doubt it's true), then i guess it boils down to whether Atletico will accept a compromise of no Aguero sale to Real Madrid during the first 2 years, or something like that.
