Sergio Aguero to announce his retirement (pg51)

That's a bit of an overreaction that, I mean the news was already out there so Aguero's hardly aimed to keep it a secret.
Who announced it originally?

Regardless- I seriously doubt for one second Aguero thought Nasri would confirm it to the public. "He just sent me a message and unfortunately it's confirmed". Sure doesn't sound like Lequipe knew anything for certain.

I mean we see on page 30 that Gerard Romero revealed Aguero was set to retire and there was a press release due. It's unlikely he made that up out of nothing. The info has been out all afternoon.

Nasri probably asked Aguero after that and then someone asked Nasri if he'd heard and he blabbed. But he's not just randomly announced this out nothing.

I'm not saying Nasri was ok to do what he did, but to call him a horrible prick without concretely having context seems extremely unfair.

That's fair, I suppose. Though you would think even Nasri would have the common sense/decency to let Aguero announce it on his own terms. It's different saying," yes, he confirmed it's true" versus Romero posting a rumor even if it did have some credence to it.

I'm not a fan of Nasri going public about it, but that's as far as I'd go.

The fact Aguero is forcibly retiring is the priority well ahead of Nasri for me (and it's of course sad).

Trying to look at it glass half full. Hell of a career and more importantly, this 'defect' was found before something possibly more tragic happened.

I hope the club give him an off-field role after he retires.

It's a sad end but he can look back at an incredible career and will go down as one of the greatest of his generation and arguably City's greatest player ever. His health comes first and he deserves a happy and healthy life.

Gonna miss him dearly. Doesn't seem like the type to stick around in football.

Had an amazing career. Certainly left his stamp on football. And it's not that bad to score his final career goal in his El Clasico debut, which is also his final game.

Pathetic from Nasri.

Everything else reporting wise is conjecture until someone perceived as a primary source, in this case, a former team-mate, breaks ranks.

Then the rest go hard.

It's a cuntish move from someone clearly trying to remain relevant and burnish their own media career.

Gérard Romero has every right to be considered a reputable source, but he is still a journo at the end of the day, so has no loyalty towards Sergio.

Nasri, as a former team-mate and supposed friend, has no such excuse.

He has broken a direct confidence and denied Sergio the luxury of announcing it himself, purely because Nasri gives the green light to a media who treat his words as essentially Sergio's.

It's a cunts trick, no better than a team-mate who spills dressing room secrets.

Tell you what, Barcelona will be looking at a huge insurance payout?

They put a ridiculous buyout clause in his contract when he signed.

Most clubs are insured against this type of thing happening, but you never know if Barca even paid the premiums.

Sergio also don't need the money, but he will defo have personal insurance.
