It'd be great if we could sign him, don't know where it might leave Dzeko though if Tevez stays.

maybe aguero could play in the hole??
maybe we should bid for the player, and him have a medical before you put holes in any1

If Tevez is staying we do not need another striker. Tevez, Dzeko and Balotelli is plenty if we are to continue with playing one up front.

The Mancini interview saying he needs a 4th striker would suggest otherwise:)

You'd hope it will be a seriously talented youngster though who can accept being a squad player, can offer something worthwhile when called upon and is an investment for the future. Lukaku for example.

Yeah...because he counts Sanchez as a striker. In reality he would have mainly played on the right.

He is not searching for a #9.

That may be the case but as we saw last season if Tevez is fit he plays and there is little or no squad rotation up front. I am already concerned about how we keep someone like Dzeko happy if he isnt getting minutes on the pitch, throw another striker into the mix and come January players will be wanting to leave!

I don't think Mancini is planning on employing Balotelli as the man up front though. We'll see plenty of games (Fa Cup final being a clear one of note) in which Balo and Tevez will start in the same side. Or even Balo and Dzeko. Tevez will want to play every game but unfortunately he just can't. I've no doubt we'll be playing enough games to keep everyone amused.

I'm really interested to see how we'll set up next season. I think as long as Mancini is happy with the defence, and Micah/Kola (or other LB) can really bully the flanks we could on the whole be seeing a far more attack minded side.

As for need vs want, as many have noted Mancini's stock is very high, and if you don't ask you don't get. So he'll be pushing for every possible squad improvement he can until we equal Real Madrid for quality and depth. The only position I desperately want to see us cover is Silva. I want another David Silva. It's just not the same when he's not playing (in all seriousness, it's really not the same, another player of his ilk would be wonderful).
