Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't think of any signings that have been unveiled out of the blue at a press conference without us knowing they've signed first via SSN and the OS

Anyone else a bit disappointed we haven't heard that at least a formal bid has been put in yet? If he was to sign by the end of the week as some are suggesting, terms would still have to be agreed and a medical completed.

Next week seeming more and more likely? Or am I just an impatient fuck?
His agent said it would be sorted by the end of this week so...!?!

I really don't see why we're after this kid. He's no better than Bellamy who we already own. He and Mancini should just kiss and make up and save ourselves 45m and another huge wage bill.

Just fucking lol.

Graham Hunter says Real Madrid's failure to 'stump up the cash' for Sergio 'Kun' Aguero has left Manchester City in pole position for the Argentine's signature.

The Atletico Madrid striker confirmed he was eager to leave the 2010 Europa League winners two months ago, alerting Europe's top sides to his availability

Atletico's city rivals Real appeared to be at the front of the queue, as well as Aguero's preferred destination, however, they have so far failed to come up with £40 million required to release the 23-year-old from his contract.

City have yet to make a formal offer for Aguero, but Sky Sports News sources understand the two clubs are ready to enter negotiations.

And Sky Sports pundit Graham Hunter says City's ability to flex their financial muscle could once again pay dividends.

"It's been an open secret that Real Madrid wanted him and that he wanted to go to Real Madrid," Hunter told Sky Sports News HD.

"Where Manchester City have hugely benefited is with their financial power and in patently marketing themselves to the player the fact that they are going to be in the Champions League, is enormous."

Aguero will be seen as a ready-made replacement for compatriot Carlos Tevez, who is eager to leave the Eastlands club.

The son-in-law of Diego Maradona can also expect to earn a huge salary if he completes his move to Manchester, however Hunter says Aguero is driven by success, not financial gain.

"Kun Aguero is not moving for more money, he's very well remunerated," he said.

"He'll be paid more once he moves, but his stated aim is to be competitive at the top level of world and European football for club and country.

"The key thing when you look at what Manchester City are able to offer him is a footballing project which is now convincing, which now excites him.

"And the big thing they've got is - because of their wealth - they have been able to stump up the cash which Real Madrid don't have."
