Sergio Gomez | Joins City on a four year deal

Said this about him on May 1st in the left back thread and still think it holds:

‘It's also important as we no longer have someone with Sane's skillset and Foden deserves to play in midfield next season. Sergio Gomez would be a sensible option as he'd adapt to the system more quickly having come through Barcelona. He's also better than Zinchenko/Cancello in attacking the outside in the final third and he presumably wouldn't cost a fortune. I don't think we should be necessarily looking for the complete left-back, ala Cancello/Walker on the right, rather someone who has the things we currently don't have and who can thus complement Zinchenko/Cancello/Ake.’

If we do sign Gomez, I hope we also keep Kabore. A year at the club could save us a fortune and another window in a couple of seasons.
Bet you wish you had a tenner on

I think my critisism for not going for a proven top target is we’ve had so many problems with this position and taking another chance with this kid just feels unnecessary. Angelino was a good signing but never world class like Cancelo and Walker. Zinchenko wasn’t neither. And here we are again, another chance taken in a very problematic area. I could be wrong about this signing and I hope I am, but I feel going down this road - AGAIN - just feels a bit like ’why?’. We clearly got the additional 10-15m to get Cucurella and he has stats proving he’s be a key signing.

I guess time will tell. Enough complaining from my part.

We haven't had any problems with the position, we've won 11 trophies in 5 years and our current LB was in the PL team of the season and the back up just got bought to start for a top 6 club.

Have you been eating opinions? As you don't half like repeating yourself.

We get it. Your concerned about the left back position but there's nothing you, me or anyone on this forum can do about it.

Whoever we get let's back them shall we
