Sergio Gomez | Joins City on a four year deal

Seems more CFG signing currently, doubt he would feature in the first team this season. But having left back talents is never a bad thing.

It says we have scouted Gomez extensively. Looks like we will get 2 left backs though

Seems he has a release clause
During an interview with SER, Sergio Gomez has recently voiced his desire to return to Barcelona, thanking the Catalonians for helping him hone his skills during the early stages of his career.

Gomez is aware of the fact that Barça are looking for a new left-back in the summer and he is open to the opportunity to return to Camp Nou. The Anderlecht starlet does have a €15 million release clause embedded in his contract, so he is unlikely to cost a fortune either.

However, with Barcelona currently invested in the pursuit of Marcos Alonso of Chelsea, a move for Gomez appears to be unlikely, at least in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Love it!

“Gomez, who City have scouted extensively, is viewed as a high-potential development talent and their move for the Spaniard is irrespective of any other targets for the position at first team level.”

He'd be a good utility player to add depth to the squad on top of a big LB signing. We need more players to compete on all fronts.

He has played as a LB, LW, RW, 10 and 8 so just chuck him in to make up the numbers in the cup games, see which position he takes to best.

Sounds more like a development player wonder if he stays in first team or goes for a CFG loan. I’m not sure if JWE and Gomez stay with another new left-back and Cancelo?

If he played regularly one season as 1st choice in La Liga and then went to Anderlecht as 1st choice I doubt he is a CFC signing. To high level for and costly for Girona.

Edit: Nah he was a sub at Huesca, sorry I was wrong. Maybe then.

could probably get both for £40m as well.
Well that would be the plan. Then loan Gomez out to Forest or someone.

I'm normally a very positive fan, but if we just bring in Gomez it will be a little underwhelming considering the better options at Left Back who've moved to other places.

Sosa, Bassey, Malacia and Raum who are all fantastic full backs. Just don't know why we wasted weeks on low balling Brighton when we could have moved on weeks ago and got one of those as a Plan B. Chelsea have almost agreed a deal in a day whilst we had been at it for 3 weeks. I just find it a little underwhelming. Now we are going for a kid with no experience at a good level. I know some would say look at Robertson, but Liverpool weren't the team we are right now. We are Premier League Champions and Champions League favourites for the 3rd time running. I just don't see the logic in letting go of Ukraine Captain and a brilliant player in Zinchenko for a player who's unpolished and would require a loan to a Lower Prem team. Might as well just pay the asking price for Cucurella and sort this problem out now for the next 5-10 years.

Our stubbornness may cost us for a few quid.

This is the sort of signing the likes of Brighton or Leicester would make, and in a year's time after one good season in the PL they'd be looking for £50m for him.
At least we're trying something different
Quite hopeful with this one
