Sevilla (A) | Post Match Thread

Usually they do a warm down and some light training the day after a European match and fly back early afternoon
Makes sense, a nice training session in the spanish sun, probably day off Thursday... Then a good session Fri b4 those horrible fuckers on Saturday.

So the kit last night is that the official Champs League kit or did we wear purple shorts to avoid a colour clash?

Ederson, 6 - what did he have to do?

Cancelo, 7 - looked more comfortable as an inverted RB than Walker does
Akanji, 7 - looks like he'll slot in nicely, need him to do some defending to know for sure
Dias, 8 - basically played the whole game in midfield and then scored one
Gomez, 7 - looks really neat and tidy and put some good crosses in

Rodri, 8 - huge part of why we were so dominant, looks classy while doing hard work
De Bruyne, 7 - some wayward passes but so good at getting the ball back, found Haaland for the opener
Bernardo, 7 - looked very busy and active tonight in a more central role

Foden, 8 - way more like it, looks so much better in central and right-wing positions these days
Haaland, 9 - always knows exactly where to be and even got involved in build-up play tonight
Grealish, 7 - controlled in possession and aggressive on the attack, just needs a bit of match sharpness

It doesn’t really get much better than that in an away CL game.

Gomez looks a proper tidy little player. Like a Zinchenko clone but with a wicked cross on him.

Grealish was really encouraging for me. He was direct, a handful but his final pass seemed lacking. Got to remember that he has been out for a few weeks and hopefully this performance is a sign of things to come.

Akanji looks an absolute baller aswell. He’s calm as fuck on the ball, can pick a pass and bring the ball into midfield. Add to the fact he’s a unit and rapid, he looks an absolute steal for the price we paid.

Was also Phil’s best game in a while. He was dangerous throughout and scored an excellent goal.
Early days but £60m for that Brighton player who has looked awful for them v £11m for our lad looks as big a steal as Alfie jr's fee.

Last night's game, Manchester city were in full control and looked to have 2 or 3 more level up their sleeves
they will say it's only Seville ? But Manchester city back 4 was the first run out in a city shirt for a couple of players but Seville have some very good players and finished 4th in la-liga last season, i liked the balance of the team last night, having a left back with a left foot speaks volumes,

city will get little media hype after beating a very good team in Spain in their own backyard, but watch tonight when liverpool play in italy ?

Didn't see any evidence of that tonight.
3 names on the scoresheet and iirc Rodri, KDB, Cancelo and others had shots on goal.
Haaland is there to put away the goals we would previously have missed.
We're going to be fine.

Exactly this. Other than getting a goal or an assist I’m not sure what else is expected of him. Definite improvement in his attacking movement with the ball. Obviously he needs to keep improving, but I’m not sure why people need to criticise when his performance was obviously better than his recent ones.
I thought Jack played well and did drive forward in that first half. He has been injured and I am sure that Pep did not want to play him for the full game. We will see how Pep viewed his performance when he picks his team against Spurs.

very good performance last night played in their half. I think that City are still getting used to playing with a number 9. We are guilty at the moment of trying to find Haal in every attack and failing to explore other routes.
Love the combination of Kev and Haal. Phil was my man of the match and made things happen for the second and third goals. I thought Jack played well and went on a couple of nice runs. Rodri controlled the game
