It's only a monkey on our back because the media say so, any team has a chance of winning a cup competition, a team could get an easy group, a few favourable draws in the knockout stages and play 1 game of their life in the final, to win a league is a lot harder and more satisfying for me
Yes, but it is still a monkey on our back and a stick with which the media, rival supporters, and the football community at large can use to beat both the club and Pep.

We’ve dominated the league — there’s nothing left to prove in England. Whether we win it three times in a row or not will have little impact on how this side is seen from this point forward.

The only thing that will improve the club’s stature is winning the CL.

I am not thrilled about that, but I accept it as the reality.

Lets see if Grealish plays any differently with a proper left back
Yeah will he get more licence to express himself??

It'll be interesting to see where Foden plays too, hopefully not stuck on the right wing!

Now we have natural footed fullbacks providing the width, i'd like to see Bernie, Rodri, Foden play as a midfield three with Kev and Grealish getting freedom to play behind Haaland.

This is probably one of the less risky games to get gomez and akanji a start, rather the first one be here than in the league at the weekend. Gomez needs to be ready, we're 1 injury to either fullback position from relying on him as first choice so we can't be shitting ourselves at him playing against Sevilla.

Not a fan of moving foden about constantly, the lad needs stability to find his best form, should be on the left or on the bench with alvarez or mahrez on the right. It's still a much stronger team than our opponents and no excuses for not winning.

I've got high hopes for the Grealish/Gomez link up on the left. This is their first time playing together so it won't be the best it can be yet, but I'm excited to see how it looks first off.

As long as Pep lets him overlap down the left and doesn't stick him in midfield.

with cancelo and gomez as the full backs, Grealish and Foden should be playing narrower closer to Haaland. Be interesting to see if that happens. If that is indeed the case i think its a shame not to use Alvarez who would shine in that role

That’s true about the statute, sadly though only to those who aren’t City fans.

If we win it I’d celebrate like fuck on the night, but that would be that and it’s another trophy to add - and a new one at that.

As for stick beating? It wouldn’t stop as the two red shirts will say ‘but we’ve won x amount’. So fuck them and their sticks.

Domestic first. If we win this, all the better as a Brucie.
