That’s true about the statute, sadly though only to those who aren’t City fans.

If we win it I’d celebrate like fuck on the night, but that would be that and it’s another trophy to add - and a new one at that.

As for stick beating? It wouldn’t stop as the two red shirts will say ‘but we’ve won x amount’. So fuck them and their sticks.

Alas, the world exists outside of just us, and that world is incredibly important to the future of the club (especially as “old” fans like me and you age out), hence why we need to win the CL.

The reason we blow the CL latter rounds is because the players are knackered! Pep's system takes a lot out of players. I know everyone haters the idea, but we cannot play every competition as though they are all equal in terms of winning. Early League Cup rounds, for example, should have 8-9 non-first-teamers in it. If we go out, we go out. But we can't be having KdB getting injured/fatigued in the minor games. In the FA Cup, we play 5-6 non-first-teamers until the latter rounds when we slowly add more top players, but only when victory is in sight.

Pep won't do that though. He players strong teams even in friendlies during the week instead of resting! The man has an obsessive win mentality, but it lacks tactical awareness of fatigue, injuries and suspensions of overplaying our pivotal players.

Yes, but it is still a monkey on our back and a stick with which the media, rival supporters, and the football community at large can use to beat both the club and Pep.

We’ve dominated the league — there’s nothing left to prove in England. Whether we win it three times in a row or not will have little impact on how this side is seen from this point forward.

The only thing that will improve the club’s stature is winning the CL.

I am not thrilled about that, but I accept it as the reality.

C'mon. You know if we win it, the media will tell all and sundry how easy this group is and we got lucky, finally ;-)
