Sevilla away sold out!

I didn't say you had but if you had, then you would have been banned.

Look - I've been a bit hard on you but you've at least been honest (whether you meant to or not) about how you've got tickets. I think there's general agreement that the loyalty points system as it stands is now not really fit for purpose.

The problem is that in the past we could have discussed this at Points of Blue, face-to-face with club officials but that forum was dropped some time ago so the ordinary match-going fan can't even ask the club to look at it.
The loyalty points system isn't broken, it's the people circumnavigating it that need to be addressed.
In this day and age City could easily implement a system for the branches to get tickets based on loyalty points rather than some random allocation

Let City employ me and i will invent it. Sorry no need, there is already one in place, it's called "Friends and Families"

I understand that I'm getting the brunt of the wrath regarding supporters clubs, but I don't mind because I genuinely believe it's a good system/option for people who otherwise wouldn't be able to catch up.

It needs a re-think so it isn't as easy to take advantage - but so does the whole ticketing structure. The reason I'm in favor of the OSC is that it's open to every one. You, me or any other City fan could join one, they are a good laugh if you like the people in them and can really help you to get to know other city fans - it's not like corporate tickets that are unreachable to those of us who don't earn a bomb.

I think it's best that blues don't turn on other blues who are trying their best to go to games. My view is that the club needs to stamp out any loop holes and have a strict set of rules that people can't abuse, and that include any benefits to having a deeper pocket then someone else.

You'd make a good politician! You've stuck up for yourself robustly & I can't take issue with most of that.

The system is imperfect and it's inevitable that someone who is seen to use it to their personal advantage will take stick. Within that imperfect system, I'd rather that someone like you went to games, who at least goes to most and provides vocal support, than the odd hanger-on or corporate johnny who only fancies the big games.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment this 'hard yards' shite is bollocks

You mean 'hard yards' since the points system has come into play

I know lads including myself who went home and away for years during the 80s/90s who are on nowhere near as many points as some on here due to dropping their ST for a few years when we moved to COMS for various reasons (Family etc etc)

A lot of these boys are hardcore support and cannot be dismissed

Like the earlier person mentioned...if you're determined and resourceful enough you can get a ticket for any game

Some just like it handed to them on a plate

my dads in the same position went to near enough every home and away game in the 70s, 80s and some in the 90s he had to stop going though once he had me and my brother - has he not put the hard yards in ?. he's started going again but has no chance of catching up with points and i suppose supporters clubs are one of the only ways to get away tickets now. other problems with the system are age counts against you, I'm 21 and i try and get to as many away games as i can so cup games in the main, i have no chance of ever catching people with thousands and thousands of points and getting tickets for games like this, unless i pay a load of money. hopefully we dont end up with the same people going to every away game like what happens at united.

i think a 5 year cycle could help so al city fans get a chance of going to games.

I don't like opening this debate as more than just the SC get an allocation
However the old chestnut of someone with 13000 plus will have got them for a mate is bollocks

I know people with less than 10,000 points who have tickets on their cards

If people with less points than the points it sold out at are getting tickets AND the points stuck on their cards then that really is a joke. I don't mind SC's pooling their member's cards that qualify and distributing tickets accordingly because that's not really any different to helping a mate out - just a more organised way of doing it - but what you've suggested is entirely different.

Whilst I agree we have a problem with the supporters club allocation, lets not lose sight of the number of tickets that are ending up in the hands off people that have little affiliation to our club.
How do these people get tickets in our end ?
Who is sourcing them ?
And who in the club/stroke ticket office has been instructed to allow this to happen ?
Because ultimatley this is where the tickets are coming from.

The rags have a ballot system. Here's how it works:
Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday 17th October, KO 3.00pm

Applications for this game have now closed and the ballot is complete. We received a total of 9,602 ticket applications for this game, but only received an allocation of 2,886 and tickets from Everton, which are priced as follows:

In the ballot, 71% of tickets were allocated to Season Ticket holders and approximately 19% were allocated to Executive Club Members. Application success rates were as follows:

• Season Ticket holders in the Loyalty Pot = 85%
• Other eligible Season Ticket holders = 20%
• Executive Club Members = 46%

Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday 31st October, KO 3.00pm

In the ballot, 75% of tickets were allocated to Season Ticket holders and approximately 17% were allocated to Executive Club Members. Application success rates were as follows:

• Season Ticket holders in the Loyalty Pot = 85%
• Other eligible Season Ticket holders = 25%
• Executive Club Members = 45%

The Season Ticket Loyalty Pot (background)

The Loyalty Pot was established in season 2003/04 and consisted of Season Ticket holders who had applied for every away game since Middlesbrough in December 2002.
Members can miss up to 2 away game applications, or cancel 2 tickets allocated in the ballot, before being removed from the Loyalty Pot, and no additional Season Ticket holders will be added. The number of Season Ticket holders in the Loyalty Pot is now approximately 780.
So if you're in the Loyalty Pot (which you had to have been in in 2003) then you've got a good chance of getting tickets. You've got a 20-25% chance if you're an ordinary ST holder and slightly less for the Executive Club.

Without knowing exactly how many applied from each category it's difficult to work out precisely but essentially for Everton they allocated 2600 tickets out of the total allocation to the ballot. About 650 in the Loyalty Pot got them, assuming most applied. Assuming about 8,000 S/T holders applied who got 1600 tickets and about 800 Executive Club members applied who got about 360 tickets, that makes the numbers about right.

I don't like the idea of the Loyalty Pot, as you can never get in if you weren't there in 2003, but the system stops points whoring and means anyone has a chance of tickets, regardless of how many years you've had a season ticket.
