Sevilla pre-match thread

Sterling and Navas will track back and help the full backs and two Ferns. We won't be overrun in midfield tonight. Happy with the team tbh, showing Sevilla the respect they deserve at their place.

De Bruyne was brought in with the Champions League in mind no doubt, hard to make a difference sitting on the bench.
Might as well have been on the bench last 2 games hasn't done enough to earn a place tonight.

Maybe De Bruyne for Sterling but that is the strongest line up we can possibly field.

Well that's a team set up not to concede & not one looking to score.

Navas & Sterling in to track back; but do provide some pace on counter. Bony can hold it up & help defend corners/free kicks etc.

If we concede KdB will be on for Fernando no doubt. But number 1 priority looking at that line up is defending - and fair enough, a points a good result. Hope it pans out.

Europa Lg level front 3 of Navas Sterling and Bony but fortunately Sevilla, although dangerous, are only a Europa Lg side and did not finish in the top four in La Liga in any of the last five seasons and are currently mid table.

Hopefully we can get a draw (I don't see much being created tonight), maybe we can bring de Bruyne on later on to set up or score a winner though.

Tonight Sevilla will be all over us as they need the win more than we do so it's suitably defensively prepared for that. Another thing to consider with De Bruyne is he does often give the ball away so perhaps Pellers is considering we want to make as few mistakes as possible here.

When Yaya plays the 10 role he basically plays the 9 role. I hope he and Dinho are in CM with Nando DM, rather than having 2 DMs and Yaya 30+ yards ahead

I'm actually happy with the team sheet tonight, I wanted both ferns to play and they have. Imo I think that's the most balanced team we could play with both Ferns started.

However if things are not going our way Toure off De Bruyne on.

The line has Champions League away fixture written all over it. A draw is a perfectly acceptable result. I can understand resting KDB; myself and the people that sit round me at the etihad thought he looked tired on saturday and not as sharp as he has been. Impact sub!

When i first saw the lineup a few minutes ago, I was disappointed to see KDB out of the squad. However, after giving it more thought, I really, really like this lineup for this particular game. KDB off the bench is a true tactical wild-card we can play. Better wild-card than any other alternative in my (very shitty) opinion.

I don't like the dropping of de Bruyne one bit. I hope the manager has made the right call here. Otherwise the team is as expected.

Agreed on KDB giving balls away, remember he was responsible for the goal we conceded at home against Sevilla.

Except in last game where he set both goals up lol

Maybe, but earlier in the season I posted stats in the CL when Yaya has started. No coincidence that our best away performance in CL last year came when Yaya was suspended.
