Sevilla v City post match thread

The most complete performance since Roma last season. This was far better though. Only problem is, how do we fit Silva and Aguero back in after that?!

Dominant. Precise. Excellent.

Every single one of them.

Our best performance of Pellegrini's tenure, that good.

That was a proper grown-up mature performance.
I hope it's a sign that Pellers has decided to be a bit more pragmatic - cause when he is, as we saw tonight , we can compete with any of them.

I'm struggling to remember a better performance in the last 4 years, Away in Europe to a team unbeaten in 10, a team who has beaten Barcelona, who were unlucky at our place if we are being honest.

No Sergio,no silva and kdb on the bench

We actually looked like a very good professional team with a plan on how we would play the opposition, the midfield 3 and how the boss asked them to play was perfection, navas and sterling gave great balance and it was a very good call by pellegrini leaving out kdb, the last I looked we had 20 chances on goal and could have won by 5 or 6

Pragmatic, well thought out, balanced and very dangerous on the counter as well as in possession, just goes to show you can play attractive football more than one way

How the hell silva and kdb fit into that I don't know

Proper made up, a top performance in Europe
I agree. And I really like the idea of setting up like that and replacing Bony with Aguero. Imagine a defense having Navas, Sterling and Aguero running around them with Yaya/Silva feeding them!

Yes, thought the ref, bar the early penalty, was fantastic. Didn't fall for any of their shite.

Saying that to the missus - Seville didn't twig that he was wasn't falling for it and we benefitted - but how many times has the situation been reversed when we haven't realised the ref gives for anything and our players are guilty of giving away cheap free kicks?

Fantastic performance - great save by Hart, the two Ferns were brilliant and their midfield couldn't get close to Yaya. Navas was also very good. Although Bony scored and hold up play was better following the goal, he needs to do better with the chances he's getting

Bring on Juve

I love it when a Plan B comes together!
That it was only 3-1 was the biggest surprise after the first half, Bony, Fernandinho, Fernando, Sterling, Kompany, Otomendi, Navas, Sagna, Yaya, Hart, all had a great night, Kolarov was the only so-so performance.

Fernandinho Fernando and Yaya were extremely good. In fact all of them were.

Sevilla were terrible. Six years since they've actually finished in the top four in Spain and you can tell, a poor side in all.

But taken nowt away from us, we made them look as shit as they are.

Pellegrini is really growing on me. From me thinking the man was a tactical fool, he's realised that playing a three man centre mid in big away games is the way forward. This change in his ways might keep him in a job with us for a few more years. If we continue to have proper tactics with discipline and the opposition in mind then I wouldn't want to get rid of him.

Fernando and Fenandinho though, what a pairing and behind Yaya who was very good with his passing and forward thinking play.

Without a doubt our best European performance, tactically spot on by Pellers - looked solid whilst looking extremely dangerous against a team who've won 10 in a row at their place in Europe..

Impressive confidence boosting stuff & without some big players.

Fortunate to have the game shown live on SBS here and it was one of the better ones for sure.

Despite our nervousness in the back we were solid in defence despite only having one clean sheet in our last twelve which we will have to improve on.

Great attacking display and for once we looked like we could see the game out without any hitches.

This is how we should set up more often home and away so maybe a lesson learnt.

The issue with that performance, is what do we do when Silva is fit and De Bruyne starts?

I only ask because that was the best performance I've seen from us in our recent European history.

Outstanding all over the park.

We looked like we had a system and a game plan. That is exactly how we should be playing in Europe and any change to that team in Turin would just be fucking daft.
