Sh*t football

Your correct awest, but the point I was trying to make is that winning trophies and entertaining football can go hand in hand.

I agree 100% however, we are 13 games into a very long season. All great teams are built from the back on solid foundations. Once built they add the sparkle and flair in the knowledge that no one can knock them down.

As long as we win it doesnt matter how exciting the match was. I agree its crap watching boring football, like what we are watching now but if we win then the fact we played boring football wont matter as we will be happy with the fact we got 3 points. Right now we are playing boring football and not winning,

Mancini is too scared to go all out for the win because we could concede and lose the game resulting in him losing his job. Hed rather settle for a point and then get 3 points by putting 10 men behind the ball and couter attacking against a top club.

If we start attacking more and play a simple 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 with 2 wingers then we will become a better attacking force and still be as good defensively.

I really hope eventually that he does change the style of football we are playing at the moment because we will never win anything with those tactics.I hope he proves me wrong, nothing would please me more.

Its hard to score without good strikers. We have had exactly one good striker fit this season and he isn't even a traditional striker but rather a false nine who is constantly dropping back into the midfield. I love that role for Tevez, but it doesn't work so well without a finisher up in the box. What exactly would you have Mancini do with the strikers he has had to work with the past 3 months?

RSC
Jo
Ade
Mario

Every one has been nearly unplayable do to fitness, quality, or attitude.

Now imagine a scenario where Bobby has a fit Balotelli and a Dzeko to choose from to slot in front of Tevez. Then the goals will come.

Until then we have to get by with what we have...the fact we are in 4th while Bobby waits for his team to come together tells me he knows what he is doing. Call it shit football if you want but by the end of the season I expect you will be eating your words.

For all those old enough, remember when Peter Reid was our manager.

Shit football, 5th two years running. Sacked after 5 games, outrage when we sacked him. Six months later City fans attitude was 'glad he went, the football was shit under Reid'. Sometimes we can't have it both ways

Although did enjoy Hortons tenure, great attacking open football but fuck all to show for it. City V Spurs 5-2 springs to mind.

I have a season ticket so am going to go regardless. Many others will do the same.

However, let's look at the floating fan here. Your average bloke with not much cash. One who supports City but doesn't share that feeling where he is compelled to go to every game. I would say that we have a hardcore of 30/35,000 who go to every game. The rest of the seats are shared around between many others.

Now, you say you are only interested in the result, well that's fair enough. However, if you are only interested in the result itself, what's the motivation for getting out of your bed and paying £40 plus all your other sundry expenses to go to the game? You might as well just flick on the remote at 4.45pm and see how the game finished then cheer or moan accordingly.

If a bloke has limited money, then he wants to get enjoyment out of that money. He wants to be entertained. I certainly wouldn't want to squander my last bit of spare cash to be bored rigid.

If we continue to see this turgid football week in, week out, then it's only a matter of time before crowds are hit big time, and with UEFA's break even policy looming, that is not something the club could afford to happen. In fact, it would be an unmitigated disaster.

Given the money spent and the promises made to the fans, this club should be selling out well in advance at the moment. The 44,000 crowd on Saturday was not only short, I believe it also included many season ticket holders who were not there. There certainly looked a lot more empty seats than that.

If you don't entertain the public, they will find something else to spend their money on. Clubs like United and Liverpool can afford to piss off their existing support because they've got thousands waiting to take their place. We have not got that luxury.

There are occasions when you are happy to see us win no matter how we play, but you don't want that every bloody week.
fantastic post mate

i dont really mind if we lose as long as i think we tried are best to win,but if we have just turned up an not give a fck im livid

I understand where you are coming from but Ade has been a 1 in 2 goal scorer for City and Mancini should be able to motivate him and know how to play him. So I don't subscribe to the theory that he has had no choice. He has often chosen to leave Ade out for whatever reason and this has been to the detriment of the team in terms of fewer goals.

I agree that we will be better with Balo available but Mancini should be able to juggle them both and Tev. If he could get the best out of Ade then we wouldn't need Dzeko. Who does he drop if Dzeko comes (and Ade leaves) and he has those three available? Another nose out of joint? Another falling out?

Yeah but 3 of those goals came against a pretty poor Lech team (still your point is valid). Ade also has been out quite a bit with niggling injuries (this weekend for instance) so my point about him was not just his attitude or quality (though the former is a problem and the latter is somewhat suspect). Dzeko doesn't seem to have the same ego issues that Ade has...he looks like a good fit mentally for Bobby.

As far as playing time I think you rotate those three. Give one of them a rest every three games. With the FA cup and Champions League games next season that is more than enough playing time for three top strikers.
