Shauny turns down new contract

not giving him a new deal, even though he has three years left to go

Dont understand the need to give him a new contract to turn down tbh when he has 3 years left on his current one.
Let him run down his contract, and get a better player in and use him as part of the squad.

Also if Marwood did say this its pretty bad management by him. I would never tell people about any of my employees contract or negotiations

Straight from the horses mouth. Marwood. Q&A tonight.

If that is true then that is a disgrace spreading stuff like this.

No one accpets the first offer, it could be playing for nowt.

Could come back to bite us if he is forced out with Barca or Arsenal

Barca or Arsenal? You cannot be serious. Theres is no way he is anything like good enough for either of these teams?

If he went it would be someone like Villa, as O´Neill likes British/Irish players. But Chelsea/Utd and even Liverpool wouldn´t take him.

And I am a fan. Just a realistic one when it comes to valuing our players. We do have some great players ie Kompany, Tevez, Adebayor, de Jong, Bellamy but sadly Shaun and Stevie are a notch down from these guys.

If it's true it may just force Bobby to replace him, he hasnt done much this season, in fact hasnt done much since his return from Chelski.

agreed
imho he has done less than that and at times he has been a downright liability

RobbieH, I'd debate that fella. Theo Walcott has been terrible for Arsenal lately so I don't see why Shaun is not good enough for them. Wenger has been interested in the past rather publically so I wouldn't be surprised to see him be so if he was to become available again.

I think we have the resources to sign superior players to Shaun, but there's a while on his contract yet so I'm not pressing the "sell him" button just yet. Lets just see what happens eh? There's players before him that need to be sold and isn't high on the list of priorities.

Agree about Walcott. Also agree we should keep Shaun. After all he is a good player. However I reckon that Wenger is doubting Theo and would probably notice that Shaun is not the player he once was. Maybe that was Mourinho´s fault! But that´s another thread.

He wants more money does Shaun, he's been angling for a contract since the new owners took over. He's probably on £60k a week here which is about as much as he'll earn anywhere and his performances don't really merit a pay rise (not that they've been particfularly bad). That said, when people like Bridge swan in here on £100k a week and an amateur like Toure is 'earning' £120k a or so a week, you can see why someone like Shaun will be asking for more

We really need to sort our wage structure out, or create one even, cos it doesn't really look like we've got one at all

couldn't have put it any better.

Some fickle wankers on here

Just look at Sunday every time he got the ball he drew 3 defenders and this happens every time he plays if we had someone on the left with the same threat and ability we would be quids in

Erm... Adam Johnson !!!!!!

We just need the def' and the lads in the centre to get the ball out to them quickly when we break. We have become so slow on the break, with the players we have we should be racing down the pitch.

I wouldn't want to lose Shauny. Rarely gives anything but his best for the cause.

I'd rather lose Petrov if there was a choice.
