Shay. Best in the Prem?

I think Shay is the best in the Prem with Brad Friedel probably next.
I also quite like Ben Foster who was the only person who didn't forget my Birthday last Sunday !!!

reminding me on today at college, few reds were going on saying ' sure ben fosters not great at the moment but in a few years he will easily be as good as given because if he can handle the pressure at this age with no experience then he surely must be one of the best soon'
i could not belive my ears! hes 26 to start, at that age given was easily number one at newcastle already with over 4 years of experience at the top level and a number one keeper. Foster has had a year with watford and now at united he just is not up to it !
Given my honest opinion would be up there, cech would have been my choice but his confidence seems to be so low. Brian jenson at burnleys one huge presence!

World Class shot stopper but i don't think he commands his area, gets off his line or distrubutes well at all. I think he's well over rated by a few on here, but tht doesn't mean he's not a great keeper.
My thoughts too.....glad we have him though.

Shay Given is a very good goal keeper! His kicking is good, his shot stopping is unrivaled by anyone on the world (not just my opinion), however(!), he never comes to collect crosses and in a goal keeper that should be an essential ability/skill to possess!
Coming to collect a cross, a corner or free-kick gives the team unbelievable relief from pressure and panic! It is one of the reasons for why we have looked a bit shakey from defending set pieces this season - it is not all the defenders faults! Fair enough he doesnt come out and not claim them, leaving the goal unattended; but i think it is something lacking in his game!
