there are some decent ones other than those three, but those three are usually spot on

I thought Souness' comments after the Palace away game last season - the same day Liverpool lost to Chelsea - were completely out of order.

He claimed that we hadn't gone all-out to score more goals like we should have.

However, given the fact that our goal difference was far superior to the Scousers' there was little point in risking serious injury by playing at 100% when we'd had the game under control from the fourth minute when Edin scored.

I've had little respect for anything Souness has said since.

I don't get to hear Francis much, but I agree about Shearer.

I also agree about the others mentioned. Gary Neville can put aside his passion for United and the antipathy for City that naturally comes from this for a Manchester based fan, and be professional, and gain respect for his views. So why can't others? I think it has something to do with intelligence.

Paul Scholes can't hide his dislike of City, but to his credit, I think Phil Neville is trying to emulate his brother in his fledgling career in punditry.

great post and bang on the money.

And on Trevor Francis, what did we ever do to this bloke, you think he would have some loyalty or reserve given he was a City player, however he is a close second to Shearer. These 2 watch the matches specifically to slag us off. After the come back against Bayern you could see that they had a tirade ready, a wealth of observations ready to stick the boot in when Aguero's heroics cut their balls off. They were palpably pissed off that we had pulled it off. They could not bear to give us any credit at all, it was painful for them to comment.

I call a spade a spade, these 2 are taking the piss. These are not professionals they are everything that is bad in sportsmanship. Souness, Lineker, Gary Neville even give an honest opinion on what is before them, they 2 deserve to be sacked.

Thanks had to get it off my chest.

You do of course mean not 'City' but MAN City, MAN City, MAN City (how many times does he say that a match?)

Always thought he had something against us - think we were a bit of a shambles when he was here tbh - but to fair he in one of those 'negative commentators' - him, Craig Burley, Brian Little etc - whos whole summary is based on slagging off the 'bigger' team. Until they are 3-0 up then they say how easy it is and they knew it all along!

I don't really listen much but noticed in the past that Francis has been unduly harsh on us, not sure why, he was pretty much idolised by the fans, one of the players around that time who were genuinely world class, which the fans clearly recognised, maybe it was something that happened behind the scene's ?

As I recal he once complained that he wasn't getting his wages paid, by the end of his City career, due to Swales' (ahem) "incompetence". So we probably did that to him. It's a long time to hold a grudge, mind.

Ah I see, cheers bud.

Re: Shearer & Francis Nobs

I also believe that he (Francis) applied for the Maine Road manager's job back in the 1990's which he obviously didn't get so that also could have something to do with it?

He's usually balanced and I forgave him that day, his beloved Liverpool had just blown the title ;)

yep, that why I mentioned him. the only time I remember he wasn't focused on analysis but more on emotion

Re: Shearer & Francis Nobs

Why listen to commentary or pundits ,any games i have to watch on TV, i have now decided to watch games with the mute button on , and turn off immediately after the match , ideally i would have the Radio Manchester commentary on my DAB radio , with the TV pictures , but there appears to be a 30 second delay , which is a pity.
To be fair , most commentators have an agenda against clubs , i think Arsenal get just as much shite as us , the only 3 clubs who appear immune are chelski, rags and dippers , the reasons are obvious rags and dippers have more armchair fans worldwide hence more customers , and chelski and mourinho are flavour of the month ,so f*ck the media , they arent worth the bother, its what we think that matters.

Re: Shearer & Francis Nobs

For those of us in MENA, we don't see MOTD or Sky Sports.

So fair play to beIN.

Shearer has sneaked onto BeIN recently. Souness is an old timer at the Doha thing.

So, at half-time today, Shearer described the penalty decision as 'disgusting'. Souness went further and referred to the [so-called] ref as a 'Village Idiot'. They were both fulsome in their praise of our mighty team at FT.

Francis is a strange one but, great player as he was, I just think that he's a bit thick.
