Shearer on Balotelli

Shearer
1) refused to sign for the rags
2) was pretty much responsible for the rags not winning a title when he played for Blackburn

He does have some credit in the bank

"Still achieved nothing" Mr. Shearer ?

My memory is not the best, but can't remember you scoring two goals, one a world class effort, in a European Semi ?

I think he received a lot of praise tonight of Shearer for his performance tonight and against England. Thought I would mention it to ensure a balanced debate.

I think we're being a bit harsh here on Big Al.

After all at Mario's age he had racked up some 6 England caps and a Full Members Cup final appearance.
Credit it to him.

Jokes aside he did have a very impressive 45 goals in his 148 appearances in his first four years. That is an impressive record no matter how much we think the guy is a bulb...

So this makes it all the more impressive that, Mario who according to many is a liability, inconsistent, rubbish, not worth the hassle blah blah has racked up 55 goals in just 148 appearances since he broke into Inter's team. Add to that his multiple personal accolades and team honours.

Compare that to other leading strikers at the same age.

Rooney. 160/53
Torres. 214/82

Perhaps this is why Mancini is sticking by Mario. His record stands up to anyone in World Football, Fat Ronaldo asides.

We need to realise what a special talent we have on our hands.
Nice post.

It would be impossible for any supposed pundit to not praise Balotelli for tonight's performance. Just as it would be reasonable to criticize Balo for some past individual match performances, but for Shearer to generalize Balotelli as having achieved nothing showed bias and/or a complete lack of knowledge.
