This might be a game where we can get away with having Mahrez on the pitch. We still have 4 players with energy in attack so the press should hopefully still be there. No doubt that Foden is the best presser we have, but there’s been some games where we’ve only had 2 players that can press, so at least there’s hope for some intensity.

Same weather as when we last tuned up in Yorkshire at Leeds , wind and rain, so conditions aren't good .... and we certainly don't want a similar result as we got then, draws are of little use to us now.

He’s a CB he hardly covers enough ground to need a rest. Keep the same back 4 as often as possible. One of the reasons our defence went to shit was Pep’s needless rotation.

Only Walker, Sterling and Rodri (from outfield players) have played more Premier League minutes than Foden for us so far this season, it’s a long season and games are coming thick and fast, really don‘t see the problem with Pep monitoring Foden’s game time closely and playing him in the right games in terms of what’s being asked of him.

The myopic view is obviously why isn’t Foden playing today, he should be in ahead of Mahrez or whoever in midfield, Pep certgsinly gets it right more often than not when it comes to Foden. We’re also not privy to the sports science stats with regards to where he’s at with his fitness!

I would rather see Foden against dippers and I believe we will see Foden Torres Sterling next Sunday.

I’m happy with this selection for this game.. especially the midfield back.

No one on this forum has the info regarding the physical fitness of our players , we take the team at face value , does this mean no one can comment on the team selection ? Close the thread i havent got the fitness stats for our 25 man squad. FFS

Riyad Mahrez has been directly involved in 99 goals in 203 Premier League appearances, scoring 58 and providing 41 assists.

This is why sometimes it's said stats damn lies and statistics - the drop off in his involvements since the start of 2020 is significant. I do hope he contributes to a decent result today but if not, it's a big call to change the attack after such a great performance midweek. I will be interested to see Raheem's performance if he is put back on the left to accommodate him - also a big call from Pep to "rest" the most promising English player for a while. We shall see by mid afternoon if it is the correct call to bring him back. If he plays like he has during his first 4.5 games this year there will be a big reaction on here at full time. We need a good win today - come on blues.
