Sheffield Wednesday on the brink… | Enter administration (p30)

The summer has been an absolute sh*tstorm, to the point so much has happened I couldn't be bothered to update on here as I have in the past on EFL matters.

May wages not fully paid
June wages not paid to staff/1st team
HMRC bill for June not paid
Manager expected to be announced as new Leicester City boss later this week
All coaches are out of contract
No Pre-season friendlies scheduled
No new Kit expected
North Stand needs work before season start otherwise a safety certificate will not be issued
Season Ticket money from early bird sales (I bought mine in January for the cheapest price) was most likely used before last season ended to prop up the finances
Any player who has not received May/June wages can give the club notice of contract termination, if the club doesn't pay what they owed within 15 days they can leave for free. I understand several players have exercised that right (good for them)
Work to upgrade the training ground has ceased due to money.
We are under an embargo for failing 2 EFL rules, this would be removed if outstanding debts are settled by Chancer or a new owner
We have a 3 window transfer window ban, and can only sign freebies or loans that do not involve a fee (including agents) with a maximum wage of £7k a week.
Chancer has turned down 2 bids for the club, he originally wanted £300 million (what a joke). The club is worth £40-50m at most, especially as the club doesn't own the stadium, Chancer does after he sold it to himself to navigate PSR rules in 2017/18 (he fucked that up so we got a 12 point deduction, reduced to 6 anyway which ultimately relegated us in 20/21 season)

Everyday there are more stories coming out of the club, football seems a million miles away at the minute, I'm more concerned if we actually start the season. It has Bury vibes about it.

Bottom line is we're royally up sh*t creek without a paddle.

If we do start the season I could see a team made up of U21's and journeymen players that nobody wants, and even they won't appear until after September 1st.
Sorry about this pal. I can never understand why such a famous club with such a huge fanbase never seem to get it right. Your fans deserve so much more.

Your chairman makes Swales look like Khaldoon. Heartbreaking pal.

Sheffield was my home for 18 years, absolute nightmare if the Owls go to the wall for the city.
CFG and academy boys seeking to step up? Fanciful I know but ….

Got a mate who's a Wednesday fan. He's been saying for a while they were a mess but seeing it laid out like that really brings it home.

Can he sell the ground then if he owns it, is that what hes working to?
He could sell the ground with the club if he were so minded.

Moved there at 18 to Sheff City Poly in '83. Have family from S Yorkshire - my Grandad was told he was too small at a Wednesday trial but in the 1920s! Our daughter plays for the women's reserves. I've worked there mostly since 87), mates on both sides of the football divide - great loyal support. Cant help having an affinity with both Sheffield clubs. No divine rights but it should be a club up there challenging for honours like the 90s - Sheridan, Waddle, Hirst were part of a wonderful side - at best. Not like this at worst.

Owner won't put a penny into the club. Heard this was going to happen weeks ago. Seasons ended, so no income streaming into the club, so won't be outgoings - i.e nobody can be paid.

Won't sell the club for £300M - thinks whatever money he's put in + what he purchased somehow equates to valuation. PIF brought Newcastle for £300M or there abouts for context.

That's the way business works.

That's the way business works.

No business/financial expert, but it isn't.

How much has Chansiri put into the club? £167M from googling, £37.5M paid to own. Round it to £200M.. Whatever valuation he had to sell 12 months ago, 6 months ago - he's ran, and continuing to run his asset into the ground.

Nobody is buying Sheff Wed for £200M, let alone £300M.

Yep, deffo Bury vibes. It’s an horrendous situation.

Hope the situation improves but clubs never die whatever happens, not when you’ve got enough loyal fans to keep them alive like Bury did (although try not to split into two rival factions).

Good luck to Wednesday, hope they can shot of this utter twat sooner rather than later and get taken over by someday who actually cares about the heritage of the club and the supporters and all being well they’ll be back in the top flight in the near future.

You may well be right, he's probably just trying to get the best price he can without spending any more - I suppose there could be a repeat of a Bury or Macclesfield if no buyer is interested.

Thank f#ck FFP / PSR or whatever will save them from the owner. Oh hang on …..

He was never going to pay anyone in month of June as there was no money coming into the club. He threw a fit the other year about fans criticising him - and publicly said he'd not put anymore money in to the club in some hissy fit. At least he's true to his word.

What sort of debt does he have on the club? If he's sold Hillsbrough. He's asset stripped the club plain and simple. Horrid to think - but land Hillsbrough sits on is surely a more sellable asset than the project of 'Sheff Wed' being a PL club again.

Nobody is buying Sheff Wed for even £50M if you don't have Hillsbrough and will have to continue working with this guy.
