Sheikhs shake world game with plan for Dream Football League

Rags pulled out of the FA Cup so I don't see why teams couldn't pull out of any competition they wanted.

Whatever strikes fear into UEFA is better for us. Even if no movement occurs.

Indeed. Blatter, Platini and Co must be on the point of feeling that it's 'Job Done' just now. FFP about to bite and their aim to have Munich, United, Real and Barcelona in every last 4 of the Champs league is almost complete. United have somehow even managed to persuade 14 stupid Premier league chairmen to cement their position of going nowhere in the domestic game.

Along comes another circus. Manchester United will have to join in to get their slice of the pie but they won't like it. It will give another 3 English clubs unlimited funds and will at least level things up to a degree.

The original idea of FFP was to avoid clubs spending money they don't have. City do have money, they have a rich owner. Message to UEFA, if you won't let us spend our own pots of cash we will earn it elswhere. I really hope this goes somewhere.

Am I the only one that loves this idea?

Best clubs playing the best clubs guaranteed higher financial benefit plus sticking one right up platini's racist French ass...sounds like a treble I can get into...not platini's ass u perverts

I don't like it, I think it would end up killing domestic football eventually.

Agree with this. Would be good for us, but bad for football.

Anyone know what our owners relationship is like with the Qataris? I would have thought the rags and Liverpool would be automatic invitees, and after that it's perm any 2 from City, Chelsea, the Arse and Spurs. Again on the basis of long established global support, one might suppose Arsenal would get an invite, which would leave just one spot. Whilst we may be one of the two best teams in the land at the moment, would that count for 'owt in the face of Chelsea's trophy haul over the last 10 years, plus last year, they (Chelsea) recorded the 4th highest number of global replica shirt sales as well.

We might assume we would be a shoe-in, but would we? Old Captain Paranoia never sits too far from my shoulder.......

Money talks they would just pull out of other competitions

Can teams do that? Say a team refuses to play in the champions league?

No idea what the punishment would be if a team pulled out but what if Arsenal Chelsea and Liverpool don't even qualify for it they'd be in over there in a shot

The punishment would be that as the FA is a member of UEFA and is obliged to give them 5-6 teams a year to compete in their competitions, we would as a country be banned from playing not just in UEFA European competitions but also from UEFA run international ones such as the Euros and it could possibly extend to FIFA so that's us also banned from the World Cup. It would be extremely stupid to give up the biggest competition in the world (Champions League) to play in one organized elsewhere, i hardly think the Qatari's or anyone else can fork out £175 million per team for 24 teams a year.

Agreed, a potential worry there. Hope they have an old boy network as strong as over here.

This was always the inevitable outcome of FFP restrictions and one BIG finger up to Platini and his cronies. Money will always find a solution.

Cant see Messrs Rummenigge and Gill liking it too much either, although they will of course be invited, it will allow others to piss on their cosy domestic arrangements under FFP.

The only issue i can see will be the location for supporters, but as they plan to make the Gulf a serious tourist attraction, this will be overcome too.

Better start building up those Etihad airmiles!!
