Shooting at Mandalay Bay Resort (Las Vegas)

I'll give you a clue....3 million more people voted for Hillary than Donald, yet he is the President. Do you know what it takes to make a Constitutional Amendment? I already gave you the stats that make it nigh on impossible, and if you think this incident will do it, I have a bridge in Brooklyn that might interest you! (An Americanism you might or might not understand??)

no thats fine thanks just saying if enough people WANT a change ........ an amendment is just that - can be amended. Sadly those who want change are cowed into believing they have no chance - rather sad in a country built on the results of grasping an opportunity. The slaughter and hand wringing will go on with an external world less and less interested in the reason just one thats morbidly interested by the event itself

Headlines like today will carry on in the states, no amount of times we see it will ever make any difference.

From the sounds of it he did not even have any strong political or religious views so it is not terrorism. He had no aims or goals from what i am reading. The shooter must have developed some gripe of some form, you don't do what he did without one surely.

He must have a mental imbalance somewhere if non of it has any political or religious aims/goals. I just can't imagine what it would take to drive a person to do what he did.

That's like saying you don't want a secondment to Manchester because it is full of drunk twats who support Man U!

Are you afraid of shadows, too?
Did Iraq twice so i've done my fair share of shitty trips.... the American psyche (sp) is maybe something I couldn't stand for more than a few months and this is an excuse... small doses and all that... I'll stick to the fortnight in our timeshare on I Drive and take my chances there. I might go mad and have a week in Daytona to mix it up a bit

Just said on channel 4 news 30,000 people killed with guns in America this year, I would say that's a massive problem!!!

And I would completely agree with you (although I would take a guess that the 30,000 figure also includes suicides) my point about the number killed in mass shootings being a round 1 per event was to highlight how small an issue they are in the total amount of related deaths, yet they get the blanket coverage. Americans need to look at why they really like killing each other before a solution to their weapon of choice for the act makes much difference imo.

Trump: "An act of pure evil".

Well, possibly. However, to make that call this early is pure speculation without first ascertaining the shooters medical history or state of mind. I don't want to defend the guy but he could have had serious mental health issues. Trump needs to think before he opens his mouth. He just doesn't do himself any favours.
By definition, doesn't a mass murderer, who holes himself up in a Vegas hotel for 3 days with 10 long guns and ammunition, waiting for the event to happen define the prerequisites for "mental health issues"? This was a premeditated mass murder of innocents, unless it was a vicious calculated attack on an individual by using hundreds of others for a smokescreen...which itself is a mental health issue.

The arguments from both sides will be deafeningly loud and vociferous, but one thing that the Right will always depend upon is that "this guy was mentally ill, but millions of us are not and own our guns legally and responsibly."

Until we know much, much more about motive, this crime will seem completely random and ridiculous. I'm sure we will discover it wasn't, but that will not negate the horror of its commission.
