Shooting at Mandalay Bay Resort (Las Vegas)

And I would completely agree with you (although I would take a guess that the 30,000 figure also includes suicides) my point about the number killed in mass shootings being a round 1 per event was to highlight how small an issue they are in the total amount of related deaths, yet they get the blanket coverage. Americans need to look at why they really like killing each other before a solution to their weapon of choice for the act makes much difference imo.
It's 11,600 gun murders so far this year. 43 every single day on average.

Did Iraq twice so i've done my fair share of shitty trips.... the American psyche (sp) is maybe something I couldn't stand for more than a few months and this is an excuse... small doses and all that... I'll stick to the fortnight in our timeshare on I Drive and take my chances there. I might go mad and have a week in Daytona to mix it up a bit
I'd take CA over I Drive all day, every day. Daytona is much nicer than it once was. Go down south, beachside towards New Smyrna, for some peace and quiet, but also be aware that stretch of beach is a shark haven! Google and YouTube will provide evidence!

Trump: "An act of pure evil".

Well, possibly. However, to make that call this early is pure speculation without first ascertaining the shooters medical history or state of mind. I don't want to defend the guy but he could have had serious mental health issues. Trump needs to think before he opens his mouth. He just doesn't do himself any favours.

The irony in your post is laughable.

Whether committed with intent or as part of mental illness, the act of killing another human is evil. The act of killing 58 people and injuring 500 is close enough to pure evil.

Nah. It's a "you're so gullible, I have something to sell you that A) I could not possibly own, or B) is so worthless to you, it would be stealing...but I think you'd buy it!" Swampland in the Everglades is another oft used phrase in that same vein.
There was a story (could have been an urban myth) that, when London Bridge was bought in the 60's, the purchasers were expecting Tower Bridge to turn up!!!

Even the safest states have a gun murder rate more than 10 times the UK and the worst are 100 times the UK. Clearly they need more guns.
It was written into a Constitution conceived immediately after a Revolutionary War, where citizens were very suspicious of Government. The 2A is as much about protecting yourself from THE STATE as any individual. Some would say more so. That sounds crazy, especially given the paramilitary and outright military equipment owned by the State/States, but you will see it in action in the recent Bundy dispute.

I think, without fear of much pushback, I would say that south of the Mason-Dixon Line and West of the Mississippi, you still have "frontier country" when it comes to guns, their ownership, and their use...until you get to within 50 miles of the West Coast!
