Should Boxing Day shopping stop.

Petition says close shops on Boxing Day to spare workers
"A petition urging shops to stay closed on Boxing Day to give staff a break has been backed by more than 100,000."
Sounds good to me
Some people need to get a life if they need to shop on this day of the year.
Power to the workers and about time they fucked the greedy retailers off.

Agreed Oakie its all about greed and trying to squeeze every last penny out of you.

Boxing day should be about recovering from christmas day if it was a heavy one, going to the match and visiting relatives you didn't manage to see on christmas day, all shops should be closed only pubs and public transport should be open, with those working on a voluntary double pay basis.

We are the worst country for not relaxing (and I don't mean having a session) we are the busiest fuckers in europe, less work and more chilling out is needed.

To me 25/26 Dec should be holidays for all but essential emergency services, my wife works for monarch and they have 7 flights out in Xmas day, why, either go before or after ffs. Screw up everyone's Xmas you sad twats. And I've worked plenty of Xmas days in my lifetime before anyone asks.
About 10 years ago we went to Egypt for a Nile Cruise and because Monarch only did one flight a week to Luxor (on a Monday I think) that just happened to be Christmas day that year.

So at 5am on Xmas morning I'm freezing to death parking my car at an offsite car park then eating my Xmas dinner (which wasn't even turkey) out of a foil tray on an aircraft.

That's like saying "we have the shitiest in ground swimming pool in the gated community".
One weeks holiday in your first year over here and 3 weeks after 5 years.

Lucky bastard. ;) Love Egypt Colin but this is now our 3rd year without venturing over there.Love the country and we did a two day stay in Luxor, visiting The Valley of The Kings and Queens.
Found it far more interesting than The Pyramids which I found totally underwhelming.Luxor any day mate.

ive personally thought that everything closes on sundays and turn it back into a proper family day,(so I could fuck off fishing for the day)

A lot of people in this country don't work a standard 9-5 job anymore so why restrict where and when they can shop? Open it up, open them all up, but only staff them with volunteers.
The problem is that "voluntary" things tend to become expected things and then required things, even if unofficially. I remember going to an agency interview and waiving my rights to a maximum 44 hour work week (technically voluntary) was presented as a formality that everyone does. The agency did fuck all anyway, but I can't imagine that it would have worked in my favour if I'd refused to waive it.

Couple of years ago Barcon whilst holidaying in Cuba we met up with 2 couples ex pats from Canada, who said they only got 2 weeks holiday a year, hence they could only stay there for one week.
WTF that all about mate ?
