Should Hodgson go?

He's had two years to prepare... finally gets to the tournament itself and then still doesn't know his best team and starts fannying around with where Rooney should play.

The guy is not all there.

He should go but with lack of suitable candidates and the salary Hodgson is on the FA will not sack him.

The rot for England starts at the top and unless we get rid of all the bloated self serving blazer wearing wankers at the top we will always be shit.

Good stuff, eloquently expressed. We need some visionary leadership from someone who will make waves. Otherwise we can just look forward to more of the same turgid fare we've watched for years.

Best thing that could happen now for England, is to get a good stuffing from Costa Rica, and for the FA to finally realise that its they that are the problem, not the manager.

Until they realise that the coaching of youth in this country is in need of a complete overhaul, nothing will change, they'll continue to limp from one poor tournament to another, and will never have anything more than a very small core of real natural talent and skill, added to be lots of strength and pace, but lack of skill.

It summed up how bad they are, when desperately trying to save the game against Uruguay they brought on Lambert, no disrespect to the lad, but he's not an international footballer, and he wasn't ever going to provide the answer. If that is the best plan B Hodgson had, then its little wonder he'll be bringing them home early next week.

Its time the FA got a plan together for the long term, and not the short term, and they could use the top English clubs to do that, there is a lot of talent coaching at the top clubs, but the clubs are not encouraged to utilise that for the good of the national side.

As for Hodgson, if the Costa Rican coach can get the tactics right against Italy with their respective players, and Hodgson can't, then its pretty obvious that he's not really up to the job, and the fact he thought it was a good idea to use Rooney as a left winger, then reverse the decision against Uruguay confirms it, he clearly had no idea of a plan B, nor the players to implement it.

sacking the manager is like rearranging the deck-chairs om the Titanic
Germany instituted a root and branch revamp that has proved very successful, unfortunately that would entail the FA falling on it's collective sword, never going to happen.

No !!!!!!!! . For a starter if we got the best manager in the World we wouldn't be any better . Capello proved that when he was manager . To me the F.A had the right man in Trevor Brooking but even he couldn't make the changes to make us better . As for Greg Dyke the blokes a waste of time and we need a better man that knows about football not television .

what the FA need is a complete change in attitude and a new commitment to modernize the coaching structure in england, in order for that to happen a new younger generation who are more accepting of change, and who understand the modern game need to be appointed. this will not happen, the fa will not change and woy will stay. in 2016 we will again be shit (or not even get there) and the same questions will be asked.

its a shame really the the game in our country is run by so many fucking clueless cunts!!!!!

the only silver lining is the investment made by city in producing new players, though this could take 10 years to come into fruition.
