Been an advocate for scrapping it for a long time. Get rid of offside and 70% of the dodgy subjective decisions disappear overnight.

Having said that probably 25% of the remaining subjective decisions relate to hand ball for a penalty.

Solve these 2 issues and my beloved game would be a fairer more watchable game.

I'd rather scrap VAR, but I've always liked the idea of a player being offside only if he's in the penalty box. I know you would have to tweak the rules to suit.

As it stands now, referees and the VAR lot should be obliged to come out and explain their interpretation, such as how Rashford wasn't interfering with play when he was clearly shielding the ball right up to the point that Fernandez hit it. It wouldn't change the decision but it might at least make them think a bit harder if they had to come out and justify it. But it needs to be simplified so that it's not open to interpretation.
Perhaps only offside laws at play if ball played from own half and you are in 18 yard box?

I think you should alter the offside in favour of the attacking team. The millimeter ofside rule has to go and be replace with an inch in line with the last defender. Attacking football should be rewarded but we don't want to watch a basketball match either

Don't take the piss but I used to play Hockey, the ball is bastard hard BTW.
The offside law was done away with in the mid nineties. We expected that the forwards would stand on the opposition goal line and wait for a chance to goal hang, that didn't happen. You need all 11 players working, having 2 or 3 of your team standing around reduces the play. Here is a link to explain it better than I can.

Almost exactly that has been in place this season. In the Premier League at least.

Has it really though? With the scorer being offside? I don't think so. You can point to Arsenal being offside in the build up today, but not for the goal itself I don't think. For the goalscorers VAR is overruling for someones cock being offside. And that is the rule as it stands

Lesson of the day, don't get an erection in a goal scoring position
