Should we shoot more?

It's all very well passing the ball about, preferably in the oppositions half - but without an end product it is not very effective.

I just wish our players would take a chance on shooting a bit more often you never know what a deflection or rebound could lead to.

By the way just like to add that I thought Kolarov was by far and away our most effective player at Villa Park, he had an excellent game.

I thought we were guilty of a few too many optimistic long range shots. If anything I didnt think we got the ball into their penalty area enough until the last 20 mins.

when you get a cowardly side like viila they pack their defence and hope for the best, so we have to go for a slick tap in otherwise it just hits bodies like yesterday.

I agree, Kolarov was City's best player on the night, he took on some shots too. It was always going to be difficult breaking villa down, but we did'nt play well enough first half. More shooting would be nice but villa never gave us the time second half.

Silva was guilty of this yesterday on numerous occasions. A couple of times it was there to curl it in the corner and he chose to dink it over the defender, which obviously never came off.

Yes and no. I think someone posted earlier that we probably need to 'mix' it a bit more.

...and I don't think we can vilify Villa for their tactics, since Bobby seems to think that's how we should play against the 'big' teams. To me, that sort of tactic serves only to emphasise that we think we are not as good as Arsenal, Rag's, Spurs or Chelsea.

I think if we are to get something out of this season, we need to start being a bit more positive - both in terms of play and mentality! I fear though that Mancini will adopt the same tactics at United, Chelsea, Spurs and even Liverpool as he did at Arsenal, and in the end that will be our and his own downfall. I hope I'm wrong though....

We had 14 shots on target yesterday, most of which were blocked with last ditch defending. Any other game we would have easily scored 3 or 4. Bad day at the office, we're still well in this, and we keep our heads high and move on.
