The guy was awesome earlier in the season, but he's hit a very sticky patch. I wouldn't play him against York City right now.

Absolutely not. He's running out of steam. Leave him on the bench for emergencies. Taking him off was the catalyst for the comeback against Chelsea. He's the best player in this league but a shadow of himself at the moment.

Although we all know hes been carrying the ankle injury (despite him saying he manages it during games). Few players maintain the great form form he was in at the start of the season but tend to play their way back into form. The fact Mancini has subbed him a few times recently can point to the injury or form in games but I dont know which! I doubt resting him would be helpful regain his merlinesque form so am hoping he plays. Might be interesting to look at his Opta stats for recent games where he's played 90 mins against those from early in the season. Also it's not a mystery as to why DS's drop in form has been mirrored by MCFC's current lacklustre form away from home.
