I'd still have Honda at the club both for football and commercial reasons. He's a quality player and the shirt sales/interest in Japan might pay for Ronaldo in summer. ;)

There we go ;)

100 million ( Japanese fans) commercial reasons.
At 30 quid per Jap we can buy up to 30 Ronaldos theoretically speaking.

As a proven World Cup & CL Quality Player further honed in the Siberian Russian League.

Whats' there not to like about this quality player with a sound economic plan by our management team?

Keisuke Honda is a quality player

The Video Clip itself of Honda's skill, blistering pace, power, deadball special deliveries, long range strikes, dribbling abilities speaks for itself.

Was it not a long while ago, if you folks (anti-honda) were old enough to remember, Japanese cars especially Honda were awfully mini (small engines < 800 cc etc & 'plastic'). Now their products are top WC!

Japan national football team & its players aint that shabby isn't it if it can beat Denmark, Cameroon, lost narrowly 0-1 to the Dutch but advanced to KO stage only to be unluckily knocked out by Para in PKs in the recent WC.

Honda has a really wicked & deadly left foot (better than any on our City squad).

Moreover he is a true blue. The national football team favourite colour. Why not red?

Now won't he be a perfect fit?

All the rags, especially those in the far east, are salivating over having him in the fold. Lets gazump him and let them have ginger prick still on the scums payroll. Denying them of any new fans or financial windfall.

Sorry to say this to the the rags here but thats the truth ;)

But mind you there is a downside. We will have to contend with more Japanese tourists.

Wouldnt we be better off just buying a Chinese player and an Indian player
Both countries have 10 times more people so using your simple maths we could make £2 billion. That would get us 1 Messi

Your right, but it depends on how good that player is. If he's average then, there's no point in even making the trip. He actually has to be somewhat of a star or potential player in order to be marketable in those countries you named that don't have a recognizable face.

For instance Dong fangzhou who played what 2 games for united? Granted we had sun jihai, but at that time we weren't exactly a team fighting for glory.

Another example is perhaps in the NBA, the difference between Yao ming and Sun Yue. A man who was hyped up and became the face of a franchise coupled with recognition in china beyond belief, whereas Sun Yue ended up riding the bench on a title winning lakers, only to revert back to obscurity.

Being a big fan of the Japanese national football team, ever since the 2002 WC, I would love to see Honda here. Japan is turning into a real hotbed for talent, you have Kagawa at Dortmund, Usami at Bayern, Otsu at Moenchengladback, and Miyaichi at Arsenal. Morimoto also seems to be getting back to form at Novara. Having scouts in that part of the world would be very worthwhile.

I cannot see China producing a top class footballer, for a very long time. The faultlines in their football structure run very deep, the Chinese football team is pretty weak, out of contention for WC qualification already. There's a very good article on why they're crap, despite it being the biggest population and football being so popular, I'll try and dig it up if anyones interested. India at the moment looks more promising.

Having watched Donovan play and having followed his career for years, I can say that has the potential to be at least a squad player for city. That having been said, he tends to capitulate when he's played out of position (as a central striker at bayern), or doesn't immediately establish himself as an important player. I can't see him being give enough of a free role to do well at City.

And yet they think at least 50-80 million Chinese people use to watch are games. There was a story when we played Everton and they had a Chinese player that over 100 million people watched us. As for India they are all about there cricket so even if there was a good Indian im doubtful it would increase revenue
