That 40mil is Euros, so it's 31 million pounds.

Still overpriced imo.

Don't forget that Martinez has agreed to take a 2 million euros cut in wages over five years to join Bayern so he will actually cost the club 30 million euros ie 23.8 million quid.
That is a good deal im.[/quote
That's a great deal for a player of his quality IF they get him ,we'd have only needed him and Munain in this window.

2 million cut over 5 years does not equal 2 million cut in each of the 5 years.

so it's 38 million euros which is 30.1 million pounds?

I'll only believe it when the club announce it tbh but it does seem that the deal is done, the sports media is talking of little else atm here.
Bayern won't say anything until he actually signs.

Bayern have agreed to pay 40 million, Martinez has agreed to take 2 million less per year than his originally agreed pay over 5 years (10 million), therefore Bayern will pay 40, get 10 back, he costs 30 million.

tbh that's bullshit. Martinez is set to earn 5m a year (down from his 'imgienary' 7m salary), it's good PR for Bayern but if Martinez agrees to a 5m/year deal he didnt really take a pay cut. If anything it means that Bayern were initially willing to overpay him by 2m.

7 million is believable. He signs a 5 year contract and will be a starter in a central role. There is still 5 or 6 players that earn more and only the own talents and bench that earns less.

He is in Munich at the doctor's office right now. All of the reporters at the airport that waited for weeks were fouled as they have flown him in over night with a Learjet and apart from Sky news who was able to film some seconds there was nobody waiting at the doctor's place at this time, too...

He has to fly back to Madrid tomorrow morning again to give the cheque to the Spanish FA and will fly back to Munich then again.

We have the money and these days it is what you have to pay for top talent. I'm happy with the deal tbh, at last the club are showing ambition, God knows we need somebody in this position.
Bild has shown a photo of him leaving the medical check at 4 am so it seems to be sorted.

@honigstein: Javi Martinez passed his medical in Munich this morning - at 3:45h local time. #mental
