i watched him in the u21 tourno last summer when spain won it!! martinez and mata were up against rodwell and henderson v england, martinez was head and shoulders above the others!! barca and bayern who are both interested surely can't be bad judges of players.....can they?

They signed Boateng.

He is totally unproven. He could become a top player but it's all about potential, not about what he actually has been doing for the past few months, which hasn't been very good at all. He'a a big unit & can probably do a job in the German league whilst they evaluate him, but still, it's all about what he MAY do, not about what he actually does.

40 million Euros is too much money for a gamble.

It is exactly that. He is 23 and still has the future in front of him. He has more than 200 league matches and some international experience.

And - most important - he matches exactly in the profile for a player that Bayern is in need of.

It would be Bayern's and Germany's record transfer. For sure they try to pay as less as possible - that's normal business.

But Bayern has about 100 millions of fluid cash that is not planned in anything.
Do you have any idea how much fluid cash City have?

Uli Hoeness told a N-TV (german TV channel) that he's not confident: "at the moment it doesn't look good. The people at Athletico are extremely stubborn and are using any reason to prevent the transfer happening".

why doesn't he just send the fucking stormtroopers in then

last time i read, he was an Athletico player so he should keep his gob shut

This transfer has less sucess than the DDR debacle.

Having said that everyone knows they won't sell unless release clause money is accepted. Bayern seemingly are trying to finds ways round it and coming unstuck. If we were really serious about him the only way to have a chance is pay the man the money he wants. :-)

Martinez deal is 'complicated'

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is the latest to offer an update on Bayern Munich's pursuit of Javi Martinez, admitting a deal with Athletic Bilbao is 'complicated'.

He remains optimistic regarding Bayern's chances of snaring the Spain international, but a saga which has dragged on for much of the summer remains some way from being completed.

Martinez has expressed a desire to move on and Bayern have a five-year contract awaiting him at the Allianz Arena.

The fee involved in any agreement is proving to be something of a sticking point, though, with Bayern reluctant to match a €40million (£31.5m) buy-out clause.

They are, however, still working hard on a transfer, with Rummenigge hopeful the 23-year-old will soon be a Bundesliga performer.
Problems

"It's a very complicated clause, so the whole subject would cause certain legal and tax problems," he said.

"We're working on it and I hope we can announce a deal by the end of August. But it's not entirely easy.

"Due to the fact he's prepared to forego a great deal of money in return for the five-year contract we intend him to sign here, he's indirectly contributing to the transfer fee.

"It definitely means the total investment would be significantly reduced."

It's not complicated Karl, you're just being a tight arse.

why do bayern always do this and alwats get away with it - Bilbao have him under contract, he has a buy out clause set, they want it met, so either meet it or shut the fuck up you silly ****

If my German doesn't fail me on this one Bayern are actually willing to pay the release clause but Bilbao won't accept it from them directly. Instead they want the release clause to be executed in the most formal and correct way which means Martinez has to pay the fee himself. He's got to deposit the money at a "FLP"(spanish pro league) account to negate his contract who then transfer it to Bilbao. Problem here: If Bayern transfer the 40 mil to Martinez, he's probably got to pay tax for it, so the amount Bayern (ore any other club interestet) needs to pay would increase considerably for there to be 40 mil left to be transfered to Bilbao's account.

Feel free to correct me if I got anything wrong.

Oh FFS City fuck DDR get him.We were ready to pay Roma ridiculous money for DDR when infact we could easily have Martinez for those amounts.FFS Marwood what are you waiting for Adebayour is gone already. There aren't many players like Javi available.

Never heard that before. So that's one thing I have learned today.
Yep. It's how Spanish clubs make it clear they're angry at a player transferring out. Usually they only do it when someone is transferring to Real or Barca, but they must have taken a dislike to how Bayern Munich has conducted themselves.

I'm so surprised those arrogant, self-righteous cunts have upset a club by their usual bullying tactics and have resorted to whining to the press (again) at just how mean other clubs are for not letting them always do as they please on the cheap. So surprised...
