Simon Rattle - British Conductor

Name me a better conductor from these Isles. I’ll wait.

Huge loss to the London Symphony Orchestra

John Eliot Gardiner will always be my favourite for his Baroque brilliance, but Rattle is far more influential.

The future of orchestras and choirs is looking bleak at the moment. Hopefully we come to our senses soon.

John Elliot Gardiner , pisses all over him, not only that In his spare time, Gardiner runs an organic farm at Springhead , which was established by his great uncle, composer Henry Balfour Gardiner. His continued involvement in this project has earned him the nickname 'Uphill Gardiner' as a consequence of his unorthodox farming methods.

anyone with a nickname of uphill Gardiner has got to be the best,
in order of greats

1. blakey
2. gardiner
3.rattle

Huge loss to the London Symphony Orchestra

A few years ago I went to see him and the Berliner Phil in London perform Mahler 2 the Resurrection symphony with two full choirs.
It was spellbinding and despite its length the evening flew by.
It’s a terrible indictment of London that the promise they made to Rattle to build a new concert hall has been thwarted by incompetence and delay that has nothing to do with covid. We will never see him back here now he has applied for German citizenship.
