Simple Minds

Jim Kerr actually stated that this song was the inspiration for ‘Belfast Child’. The melody is almost identical. You’re right, she never released this. She only ever sang it live to my knowledge. It was featured in the film ‘Michael Collins’.
For those who haven’t heard it, here it is. The inspiration for ‘Belfast Child’

That's just perfection.
If you're not moved by this there's not much that will.
Really nice to know it inspired Jim, I never knew that.
Thank you for posting.

Loved them at their peak they really did go huge very quickly
Used to play Edinburgh more than Glasgow as we had better venues/ licensing laws then
Swear I saw them 3 times in the one night as my mate was their manager.
Felt they jumped the shark when they played ibrox Stadium.. every song seemed to last 20 minutes and JK came across as a bit of a knob

At the time remember being surprised he didn’t wanna play Parkhead instead!

Can't remember the days mate sorry but it was brilliant! They did that album and themselves justice for sure. Great band.
Yeah, I only remember it because I’d bought a ticket then me Ma put her foot down (school night etc) and it wasn’t happening. Had to flog it to a mate … whose Mum was more than happy for him to go.

Not that I’m still bitter or anything, y’know, decades later …

Saw them at the Apollo in 84, Paris in 89, Leeds in 89 and Manchester Arena in 2009.

The first 2 were brilliant, Leeds was too long of a day in boiling heat but still a great setlist. The Arena gig though was virtually the audience singing the more popular tunes. OMD were a brilliant support on that tour.

I’ve heard bootlegs from most tours and those 84 shows are the most special
