Just had a look at the top 8 sides performances since the boxing day match, couple of surprises there including the third most goals of the eight (free scoring Spurs ha, Villa had 5 of their 15 in one match and Arsenal was a surprise).

Overall, not far off matching it with the best from day 1.

Arsenal - played 16, points 36, goals 31
Man United - played 15, points 35, goals 40
Chelsea - played 15, points 33, goals 41
Everton - played 16, points 32, goals 29
Man City - played 15, points 30, goals 31
Liverpool - played 15, points 28, goals 20
Tottenham - played 14, points 25, goals 18
Aston Villa - played 14, points 19, goals 15

by now were normally buzzing about just breaking into the top half lol
Or being 6 points clear of relagtion and wondering who we will spend our £10m transfer budget on!!!
Yeah...£10m once we'd sold Anelka and that's if we were lucky. To think we spent so much more on single players recently. I think fans need to keep on looking back to truly appreciate where we are now even if we don't finish 4th.

Would've been pointless sacking Hughes and bringing him in if we weren't going to see an upturn in results, so on that score it's good to see him doing his job well. The great job he's doing will hopefully allow him to keep it past the summer.

I hope so. Last thing we want is another change. And the suggestion of Jose fills me with dread. Mainly because he will implode about three seasons in (if he lasts that long).

I said in another thread, I think that if Mancini takes us to fourth, which I've always thought he would do, then I think he should be given an open cheque book the way Hughes had last summer.

The Jose thing? Who knows...we just can't second guess what the owners are doing behind the scenes...although it's fun trying...;- )

Really good positive news though as you point out there are surprises... not least of which is Everton.

I feel we are gathering momentum and learning from every game. I believe we will get six points from our next two fixtures versus Birmingham without Hart) and Ushited, and something from Arsenal is not out of the question.

Keep the faith.

Don't want Jose, Billy. Have thought about it for ages but that appointment rests uneasily with me. Mainly because his ego is usually bigger than the Club he is at. Plus, he couldn't cope with all of us lot ;-)

Would love to see Mancini have a real go at it next season.

2 points a game....
over two goals a game.....
Pretty good hit on 4th
Far superior to Spuds in points and GD

Better than Liverpool, and Villa in points ad GD

No worse than Everton on points
better Goals than Everton....

I think we are improving and getting stronger as the season progresses.

I can see the positives, but like I said in an earlier thread, stats can tell you anything you want to read.

Add all the injury problems we have had, especilliy at the back. Hope Bridge and lescott are back for rag game.

All that's happened is Tevez started scoring loads of goals that won us games, what are we stronger at??? the zonal marking doesn't work because half the defence ignores it & we got beat at home 2-0 by everton because the tactics were shite.
Tevez is scoring loads of goals that's it.......Ade has hit form aswell & Johnson has done pretty well.
Bellers & the players may yet fire us into the champs league but as said on an earlier thread it's the players that are shite so it's the players that are responsible if we do it.

Doesn't really matter why we're racking up the points, just the fact that we are has to be seen as a positive.

If the rags win the title this year I bet there won't be too many saying it's been a disappointment because they only won because the granny shagger scored a lot for them.
