A lot of people laid the foundations to City being the global force in football it now is, Sir Howard is one such shinning example.

There is a wonderful obit of Howard in today’s Times.
“His efforts led to him being knighted for services to his city, although he rated becoming President of Manchester City as an even prouder moment.”
There is a fine description of how his vision won over a succession of Government ministers, notably Heseltine and Osborne and the plan that he and Osborne put together is rated by Osborne as his proudest achievement.
If someone with the magic firewall demolishing kit can do the business here, every Mancunian and every blue should read it.
They certainly don’t make people like Howard Bernstein every day.
