I'm pretty certain Sir Howard would not have wanted a stand named after him. He does have Sir Howard Bernstein Way named after him, which is a good gesture and one that recognises his significance to the stadium too - the mosaic on the walkway shows the stadium with his name.

The season before the last at Maine Road. We played Wolves on a pea soup fog bound night at home. As I past the old souvenir shop ( the old one the little house) he walked out of the front door of it and turned into us as I walked by(going home I lived on Kippax Street). We both apologised in a awkward English way. And as he was leaving I asked him is the game on tonight ( it was a top of the table clash a big game) and his words were " If I have to Ref it myself we will play tonight and win!!" I was buzzing at this. We did play and won 1-0 . Never met him again. R.I.P Sir Bernstein
