Good old Joey claiming that Fergie was an undeniably great manager, but hadn`t a clue when it came to coaching,
"He couldn`t (Fergie) even lay out the cones !! "
So this is allegedly coming from Barton via ex-players.
So,was he a far better manager than a coach ?
Every time United went out of Europe it was down to Fergie being tactically beaten. About five times he played 4 in midfield against an oppositions 5 and United were overrun and lost.

He was by no means tactically deep. He played with a predictable but effective quick counter attacking, lots of crosses, winger system. He got the ball as close to the goal as often as possible and over time, eventually, a goal will come.

So basically he had a superficial grasp of the game?
