skiing

Planning on going this year after spontaneously kitting myself out head to toe in lidl one day during their ski sale.

Have never been but looking at Val Thorens or Chamonix.

I'd a friend decapitated on a sled about 20 years back, so been very hesitant to do anything snow based, but otherwise I'm a bit of a daredevil/stupid fucker so I figured I have to do snowboarding in the next few years before I'm too old to.
Go to VT. Far better as a first destination. Easier/more convenient skiing.

Agreed, although anywhere within the Three Valleys is brilliant, except les Menuires which can be far too crowded
For the 3 valleys, based purely on terrain, if you're an absolute beginner go in this order of preference

Courchevel 1650
Val Thorens
La Tania
Meribel

Courchevel 1850 is a great area, but very expensive. If money is no object, skiing is fantastic.

All of the above are easily accessed/interlinked so don't sweat it too much.

Not been for a few years but I'm off to Morzines in mid January for a fucking stag do (cheeky bastard). I enjoy going but would rather have spent the £1500 on something else, and thats why I've not been for a few years.

Never been to Morzines before (done Austria x2, Val D'Isere, and Val Thorens), so has anyone been before? Is it any good?

I've been to Morzine three times
Its a huge area but the links between different valleys can get blocked during peak times, ie half term and Christmas
Avoriaz and Champery are linked and they are huge areas with a superb range of runs.
Depending on where you are staying morzine centre can be a bit of a nightmare as the resort has three ski entries and your chalet could be on the otherside

Went to Chamonix in march for a long weekend with the wife which was fantastic although mountain access isn't the best. Did Flaine in April with the kids which was ok and we're going to Les Deux Alpes over Christmas - this wasn't my first choice resort but we got a great deal on the hotel.

Has any body been to L2A and offer any advice ..... Places to ski, mountain restaurants, sports bars to watch the match on boxing day......
