Skin conditions

Cheers bud, hope it helps some others on here too.
There is nothing worse,I suffered with eczema since I was a kid, Im sure I posted on this thread about it back at the time. Eventually, the dermo cured it at the hospital with what sounds like your treatment. 6 weeks of plastering on the steroid ointments, contrary to what every GP I had ever seen for 40 years said. It went and has never come back, nearly 4 years clear of it. Really hope you get it sorted long term

Cut out yeast/wheat. Sorted out my eczema after countless failed doctor theories and treatments.

To be fair anything that dehydrates is not going to be great for dry skin conditions.

Having spoke to the Derma nurse and possible triggers turns out it's likely that on one occasion just after passing my test i got splashed by a dodgy fuel pump with diesel. I had a pretty bad reaction to it in minutes i felt dreadful, my feet and hands were on fire my throat felt like i had a lump of vomit in it, sweating and dizzy (obviously allergic to something in the diesel. It was Morrisons, so i quickly told the wife to get a shit load of hayfever tabs and i woofed a great wodge of them but i wasn't right for hrs afterwards. thought no more about it. When she asked did it start anywhere you got splashed i remembered it did start as a bit of skin build up on my thumb.

Feels a bit snowflakey but this condition has made me so depressed, for instance if i had to use a screw driver my hands would get 4-5 cuts on them the day after and though not life threatening it made life so difficult

been a while but i'm back, skin on my hands stopped splitting almost completely occasional break outs but 75% better. A strong steroid then steroid creams with gradually declining strengths in combination with using Flexitol as a all purpose moisturiser and only using Dermol and water for bathing no shampoo, stopped using deodorants too. Couldn't say what had the greatest effect but Flexitol cream really helps.

Stopped using steroid creams altogether 2 week ago and use something called ProTopic. my feet have flared up badly again and my hands have started scaling up again so next visit i'll see where i stand on using steroid creams again.

Finally got my appointment for patch testing and i go to have the first batch removed later today at Salford Royal.

Hope this helps someone else.

Cheers

Sprout

my daughter suffered badly for years with skin issues, 3 sets of patch tests, a multitude of creams and steroids, told it was auto immune issue by one specialist, told it wasn't by another, numerous instances of it becoming infected, light treatment helped but only whist it was ongoing, finally the third patch test identified a massive allergy to dogs, never showed up on the previous 2. Avoids them like the plague now and she's much better, poor buggers dog mad though :(
