sky - are we about to be docked six points?

OK has anyone thought it makes no sense to actually end them as a business. Their biggest asset has to be the players on the books so to raise funds they need to still be there to sell them on, if not they are effectively released on a free. Ceasing them as a club would be a massive relative cost and would be insanity to do so. They'd basically be writing off £50 million pounds (I'm just guessing at what their players would raise as fire sale)to get very little back.

"SKY sources" are reporting Porstmouth have had their cash offer rejected by the Inland Revenue.

If this is the case, and they got into admin, all results against them will be null and void.

Along with Manure, this will affect us the most and we would drop to about eighth? Liverpool will gain the most.

Didn't we just know there would be some way of fooking up our season.

It's been whispered for a few weeks, but it finally appears Portsmouth could be made an example of.

Don't think the PL would let them go under, they'll just finish the season in administration with a 10 point deduction, last time a team packed up completely mid season was Accrington Stanley 1963.
Didn't either Maidstone and/or Aldershot fold mid-season??

What was that scottish team called that now cease to exist? That happened last season.

You are correct, but they didn't sell in January (which they should have). The funds would have been raised, they'd have been relegated (£30m Windfall) and the club would have been a hell of a lot more stable.

And now that January is ended, A Fire Sale is not possible because yes you guessed it. The Transfer Window.

It doesn't make sense to end them as a business because they can still bring in a decent income by filling their ground plus, as you say, they have assets to sell. Administration will allow them to restructure their debts and reduce their wage bill, as well as making them more attractive to a buyer.

Also it's a point of interest. The taxman wants his money, he doesn't care how, or what else happens or what else is available. That is irrelivant.

Bloke on SSN with scary teeth just said the the taxman wanted to end Pompey as a club but they were arguing that this wouldn't make sense as they would loose future earnings such as TV monies etc. Amazing that the HMRC can see things in such a black and white way.
