Sky Blue Netting

Brought this up on another thread and thought I'd gauge opinion. I find the black netting we use in the goals at the moment pretty dreary! I know it's there so people can supposedly see the game better but I just don't like it. I'd much rather we changed back to white netting or tried sky blue. Anyone else give a shit about this?.....probably not but hey ho!!

And I would include sky blue soap and sky blue paper towels in the gents. Pink shit paper, too.

The reason the netting colour changed was a trail by eufa, in the champions league, (I think), as it is less conspicuous for the spectators when viewing the game through them.
Personally, I think it looks better!

I found this such a boring and pointless thread I investigated further using the power of end of season dvds and the Premier League website, making me just as bad!

The last season we had white nets was 2006/7-we only scored 10 league goals at home that season, every season since we have scored signicantly more, albeit with a better team etc.

They have been there since the start of the 2007/8 season-why has something so trivial taken 2 and a half years to actually become an issue to a very tiny minority?!?!!?

You cannot have lettering or logos in nets in the Premier League, or for that matter on corner flags, unless it is a club badge-its in the rules.

Get a grip and watch the game for gods sake!

Who cares what colour the netting is? I don't, but then I'm colour blind. Seem to recall the colour of the netting became Blue Print's raison d'etre 20 years ago, raising a grand to get it changed! It was boring then and it's boring now. Should Tevez bang a hat-trick in against the rags, who's going to care about the colour of the netting?

Now the continental style stanchions... I really don't like them. They're pointless. Let's have ones like we used to have at Maine Road.

These are used now to lessen the chance of the ball coming back out of the net when a goal is scored, and again by the power of dvd/video, we actually had them at Maine Road from around the 1998/99 season!

i agree with the op, black netting is shit and at times because of the lack of ripple when the ball goes in it doesn't look right especially when the ball is smashed in, and it doesn't look like it has gone in sometimes.( I did used to have a life once but it was cruely ended and i came back as myself )

i changed citys stadium on fifa but unfortunately it has red and white netting. never mind

i really like the italia90 nets thats have a nice ripple just like the stadio olympico in rome..
may invite our strikers to score a few more.
lets face it if you were a kid watching a local league match all you wanted to do half time was to score in a net that has some give.
