Sky - Mané Red card poll (official appeal rejected)

Extended highlights on the City website of the game.
Pause at 4'36" and ask anybody in doubt if it's a red !
Surprised the police weren't called !

Yes he stated that it was a red all day long, irrespective of what happened at Swansea. He did say that in his opinion the ref at Swansea should also have shown a red.

Was it Cottee who was persisting with the "He didnt know that Ederson had come out for the ball" line? I quite enjoyed the withering look that Gallagher gave him.

100% red card and so was Matt Ritchie's, so using that as an example is void unless you're pointing out inconsistency within refereeing. I'm actually perplexed at how Ritchie never got sent off, the guy had no control whatsoever, he landed on his arse. Totally reckless.
Alan Smith said at the time "maybe he should have gone down squealing to get him sent off"

When I saw it first I thought it was a harsh red but then after seeing the number of replays I can't even believe this is a debate. In action and from the camera angle on TV it didn't look like his foot had hit his face. He seemed to only shoulder barge and crash into him. But clearly he rakes his studs down his face (not intentionally) but it's a stonewall red card.

Youtube is littered with similar tackles being red-carded.

I know it's typical YouTube sensationalist video titles, but this Stepanenko tackle for Ukraine national team is variously described as "worst foul ever", "clearest red card EVER", and "unbelievably bad foul"

Or, maybe closer to home, I don't recall anyone complaining about....

I have lost count the number of times I have seen the incident and if you watch carefully from the moment Sane sees the ball,he has a clear view of Eddie coming out.It is only after that when he takes his eye off the ball. How very fucking convenient.
As others have said,if he didn`t know Eddie was there why the need to try and control a ball with your foot that high. You would let it drop and then see where the goalie is.Nice to hear and see Dermot Gallagher coming to our defence and explaining the actually ruling.
Some of these ex players do NOT understand a lot of the new rules and think the old rules still exist from their playing days.Loads of bloody Muppets.

Just reading the comments about the game in the Liverpool Echo, one fella thinks Ederson should have been booked for recklessly charging out endangering Mane.....ycmiu

Chris Foy, Dion Dublin and Don Hutchinson talking far too much sense on Supersport 3. They'll all be sacked soon no doubt

If Ederson is 6'5 and only his head is slightly dipped i make that about head height still for a 6 footer. Gary Neville, intent has no bearing on the call at all so why attempt to bring it to bear on the matter you ignoramus.
