Carrick's probably the best central midfielder in the premiership at the moment - people can't get near him, i watched the boro game last night and he was immense. Whether you hate him or not, he's been outstanding.

I don't know about Barry, i can only assume he's been decent but isnt Sidwell outshining him at the moment?

It's calendar year rather than season so far. Ireland has been one of the best midfielders in the Prem since August, however he wasn't even in the running for that accolade between January and May. If he can make the entire year of 2009 as good as the start of this season then he'll be in with a shout next year, definitely.
