Sky Sports Relaunch- New and Exclusive Channels for Football

I called them today and from tomorrow existing and new customers can do the sports channels as they want, the question is if i pick sports 1 for the prem games will they then put some of them on sports 2 so you end up having to have both, knowing sky yes they will

Undoubtedly.

Customers will be 'forced' to buy both channels in order to see all of their team's games.

just off the phone to them. They are a robbing shower of shits. Have been a sky customer from the start (yes I know, hangs head in shame), I want best quality HD coverage I can get in multi rooms. I phoned them to restructure my package so I have the bare minimum of what I watch - Premier football, sky atlantic + free to air, all in HD. Best offer £74 per month. Turns out to get HD you need to take the 'Boxes bundle' which is their most expensive. They won't give HD on their other bundles. Their systems were down so they wouldn't cancel. Have someone calling back on Saturday with a better offer. I don't fancy the faff with Kodi, NowTV doesn't do HD I think. So that leaves me with choices of BT or Virgin. Realistically, if I cancel will they come back and make a better offer? Any advice that goes beyond 'go down the pub' welcome.

Id phone Virgin media and ask for there best offer seeing you will be a new customer you should get a good deal, if its a lot lower then go back to sky and tell them Virgin media are offering me this can you match it or Im off.

Yeah, just on the BT and Virgin websites just now. With BT they can't offer sky sports in HD, never mind HDR. Virgin would be an option if i wasn't tied into BT with my fibre internet. They aren't cheap - £80 per month but that includes their fibre. Maybe could do a better deal if I phoned them. That would have to wait a few months though.

Go with Virgin, get their full package and BT Sports (£45 a month/ £68 a month after 12 months) (No Sky movies or sports)

You'll have 200mb broadband so you can get Now TV in HD quite comfortably with that if you don't fancy streams from elsewhere.

Well there you go, after months of wait, yesterday saw the new channels and pricing. No more will I have to pay money for the F1 channel, the Cricket channel or the tedious Golf one. We have choice!!

Except we appear not to.

20 quid for 1 channel. 22 quid for 2.

There are 2 channels for football now...so that's 22 quid. Sorted. Except the full package, with F1 and everything is only 27.50. I.E exactly the same as before. So a fiver difference.

And now they tell me that there is a promotion for everything for 20 quid for 18 months.

So...nothing to see. Move along. A pointless exercise.

Sky = Dick Turpin without the mask. Even worse, they tell you they are going to rob you first; and people still fall for it.

£81.50 for the full package (new customers)

350 Channels.

If you consider half are 24 hour channels, and half are 12 hour channels, that is a total of 6300 hours of TV. Even taking off 2000 hours off for repeats that leaves 4300. And if you were to watch TV 24 hours a day you are effectively paying for 4276 hours of TV that you don't watch. Yes, this is a simplistic analogy, and I know you can record Stuff/multi-room etc., but surely there is more to life than sitting in front of the TV all day?

At least if I put £81.50 worth of fuel in my car I actually use what I pay for.

This pretty much! Only channels I watch on sky are Sky Sports when football is on, sky Atlantic when Game of Thrones is on, and possibly the movie channels if there's a film I want to see with is very rare!!

The price of Sky/Virgin tv is not worth the price for how much tv I actually watch! Say if it cost me £960 a year, I'm probably watching about £100 worth a year!! May as well burn the £860...
