Sleep

Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride made by Cresent. £1.60 for 20 x 25mg or £3 odd for 20 x 50mg. You can get it at Tesco but only in the pharmacy and they give you the usual 3rd degree ;

Is it for yourself ? (yes), Have you taken it before ? (yes), How long ago ? (not for a couple of months, lie), On any other meds ? (no, lie), You realise this is short term and we cant keep selling it to you ? (Yes, thats why I go to a different Tesco to get it as well). Dont say the last bit.

It is an old style antihistamine that is no longer prescribed as such because it made people so drowsy. Now sold as a sleep aid and anybody that I have recommended it to has said that it has helped them tremendously. I have had sleepers from the doctor in the past but they make me feel terrible. These make me feel a little groggy when first awake but fine once out of bed and had a brew.

Please try them, think they are great.
Thank you.

I struggle at the opposite end. For the most part it doesn't matter what time I go to sleep, I will wake up sometime between 6:30 and 7am. If I go to bed anytime after midnight, I'm proper mardy the next day.

Suffered from sleepwalking, and various parasomnias such as sleep paralysis for nearly thirty years. Tried all kinds of medications some made things slightly better , some made things worse. Only thing I try now which seems to improve things is not going to bed stressed, I always try to watch some funny comedy or amusing videos for half and hour to an hour before I go to bed.

Try Boot's one a night "Sleepeze"........

Take ONE two hours before bedtime, work a treat FOR SHORT TERM USE.......3/4 days.

No prescription needed.
I cannot take them as I take medication for both cholesterol and blood pressure.I was told this by my GP and when I initially asked the pharmacist they would not even sell them to me.

Cheers mate.I`ve just responded to ColinBellsjockstrap who suggested something else,so I`m not certain I want to mix and match, due to the pharmacists 3rd degree. This is my earlier response :

I go through stages where sometimes I'll be in a normal routine and sleep normal hours then sometimes I'll be awake all bloody night like tonight.

I did manage to get to sleep around 10pm last night but jumped out of bed when I dreamt that a tarantula was crawling on me. Fucking dreams!

I tend to go to bed just before 11 and get up just before 5 everyday and sleep solidly in that time. One week day and on Sunday's (especially if I have got up at 2 am to watch city) I lie in till 7 or when the kids get up.

I've never really had sleep problems especially if I exercise each day .

Did get woken up in the middle of the night last night when a battery powered jumping dog of my dayghters suddenly and mysteriously turn on at 3 in the morning causing angst from her and me jumping from the bed wondering what was going on. I did at that point switch training from 5:30 to 6:30

Sunday always been a problem for me right from when I was a kid, it's because I am a lazy bastard and enjoy my lie ins when I can have them. I wake up very early after drinking and the next night I sleep like a log so I am cure now as an adult. Get bladdered every Saturday night, job done.

Have to say kids changes patterns 20 years ago 4 am to 12 pm my sleep time , now 11pm to 5am , need less sleep each year but seems that it becomes more regular . I really few it now on nights like New Year's Eve as I was still up and about at 6 NYD. Thank god my kids always slept through the night - I have seen good friends and family destroyed by never being able to sleep for more than 2 or 3 hours in disturbed on one case for 3 years

If not working i'm up around 7am. Then i usually have a siesta after tea and wake around 9pm. Piss about til around 2am then back to bed.
Rock'n'Roll...
